An introduction from a cabin crew is mandated in the Oneworld FFP Delivery Document. It's not open to interpretation - an introduction is mandated by Oneworld as a minimum service guarantee for Emeralds.

I’ve just flown MH MEL-KUL return and didn’t get any introduction from the crew, apart from the boarding pass check/welcome everyone gets stepping onboard. These were in J and my passes reflected I was Emerald.

You should ask them. AFAIK under the privacy laws your entitled to request what has been written there.
You are entitled but these have to be done as a written request to Qantas head office as no random person with access (such as a FA can legally give all of it out)

It's not really an expectation but when they introduce themselves to the Platinum on your right and the Platinum on your left while standing in front of you and ignore you then your curiosity gets the better of you.

That’s just you John....

Not exactly on Topic but I had reason to call Qatar yesterday in order to get my FF number off from my husbands booking as the dup FF number was preventing seat selection. Very good call center experience with little wait. Details corrected and then the operator said pre-emptively “ Madame, I see you are both Emeralds, please let me assist with your seat selection so that I can block the seats you would like”.

Spot on.

Had 3 VA bookings linked for yesterday's flight. We're all sitting in row 8. Get to airport and wife is now seated 12 rows behind my daughter and me. Luckily not a full flight.

There must be something on my Qantas and Virgin profiles.

Linking does diddly squat. And that can happen even with tickets in the same PNR anyway.

Two levels - both based on laziness, either during training (never sunk in) or during the process.

One, to properly link bookings, each must be TCP'd to point to the other - with three PNR's, that is 6 links A-B, A-C, B-C, B-A, C-A & C-B. Many agents can't be bothered.

Two, when checking for manual seat changing, many check-in agents simply don't check to see if a seat adjacent to the target seat has been linked to that seat.

I've assumed the special treatment on domestic was reserved for platinum 1 and chairmans, oh and staff. Often see wine in real glass heading down the back of the plane, from my row 4 seat, with zero offer of nice wine to me as platinum. most recent flight there was even 2 glasses taken back at one stage - 1 in real glass, and 1 in plastic (I assumed that was for a staff member).

But at least the staff read off my name from their bit of paper.

I think P1 and CL - as WP's we've never been offered anything.

Appears to be a very random thing, and very FA dependent.
Since I've been P1, I've not had the "anything I can do for you" visit, but did have it a few times as WP.
Interestingly, on a recent Qantas Link flight, I was in 1B and chatting with the FA who asked me what was the difference between Platinum one and Platinum. Seems to indicate that training in that area is a bit casual!

Surely they knew who you were? :p

I was carrying the most impressive possible status any traveller can ever have. It's my secret weapon that guarantees top-notch treatment on every flight.

No status credits or mileage runs required.

I get priority board on every flight on every airline, loads of freebies, and extremely attentive cabin crew on 100% of flights.
