PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

First time i've ever had an upgrade request in for an international flight but I have plenty of points to burn so thought why not.

I am looking at QF11 11th Nov. i'm booked in J with an upgrade request to F. EF is showing 5 F seats still available. What do the experts here think of my chances of getting 2 of them. Both pax are SG

It's no so much the seating allocations (although that can be useful), it's the fare bucket loading that are generally more indicative. In this case they pretty uch correlate.

A1 might mean two seats may be tough, but really it's a cough shoot.

Thanks serfty As I said I am completely green at the upgrade thing. In my simple mind I understand that the upgrade would come from bucket A but at T24 if there is still 5 seats in bucket F would they not be released for upgrades ? or am I completely out of my depth in trying to figure this

It depends upon several factors including how many First seats they may make available for points upgrades and how many people in business who are higher in the pecking order than you have also put in a request for an upgrade to first.

One thing in your favour is that quite a few deep discount business class seats ( I8 ) are available for purchase. This means business is lightly sold and there is greater chance for you to be higher in pecking order.

With all that and only 5 seats being sold it is still a coughshoot.

Thanks serfty you've sort of cleared the muddy waters for me and now I certainly won't be disappointed when it doesn't happen but be very surprised and grateful if it does.

I've flown numerous times on EK F but I have never been on a QF A380 so was looking for a treat for my big 60 birthday and was mainly wanting to try the F lounge in SYD. J on the QF A380 will be good I am sure as long as its similar or better than the 747 and I have been lucky enough to snag row 12 in the Emerald city

I'm thinking of booking QF ex HKG on 26/11 or 27/11. Can someone have a look at loadings for QF128, 118, 98, and 30? Want to know if I book Y what my chances are of a points upgrade.

There are on D or I class availability at all on 27/11, so you really should choose 26/11 for a chance of an upgrade, and on this day, QF30 is already packed in J. Currently 118 has I3 and 128 has I1. Although 128 has a total of 58 J seats, while 118 has only 28, and may be subjected to a last minute swap to Skybed Mk1.

Is there any way to check if there award seats available on a particular flight?

CX156 BNE-HKG on 06 June 2016 is showing availability in business class on Qantas website but AA cannot see this availability.

Not for CX, although if I log in to my MPC (green) account, I can see quite a few redemption seats in Y, waitlist only in Y+, and 1 seat only in J.

Interesting that Qantas can see that availability and AA does not. I may leave a few days earlier as there is availability on QF127.

Not sure how the AA side of things work, but would it make a difference giving them a call? (Although I'm guessing that you would've explored the various booking options already).

I have called AA. They cannot see that flight. I will leave a few days earlier. Just want to use up the AA miles before the suspected devaluation.

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out with Y-J upgrade probability - SYD/HNL QF3 SYD-HNL on 4th December 2015? I'm QF PS.
Thanks

Still early days, but J9C9D9I5 suggests a reasonable chance, as long as there aren't too many others with higher status requesting upgrades as well. Need to have another look in a couple of weeks to see where things are.

Could someone give me an idea of loadings on QF94 out of LAX on Monday evening 09-Nov-2015 please? I'm wondering if the upgrade angel will tap me on the shoulder to grant me a 45k points J seat (from PE).
