PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

J9 and C9 for that flight. I and D are zeros. Other flights still have a few J available. May be worth calling again? Unless they have a lot of staff travelling that day I'd be surprised if they were counting on 9 J revenue purchases at this stage.

Even if there were a lot of staff traveling, they shouldn't be overriding points requested upgrades. Staff travel (unless it's a special kind of staff travel) is on a space available basis that clears roughly 15mins before departure if there are no seats in J they travel in Y but if there's space in J then they get J.

I thought so too until a MEL-SYD flight the other day which was showing high J class numbers until maybe 2 days out when the whole flight went to zeroes. Onboard in J and there were several uniformed staff from QF and Jetstar, and at least 4 pilots, in J and Y. Could be many reasons for that of course but it did make me think maybe there is some provisioning of space for known staff travel for operational reasons. But of course it shouldn't override a sale or even a points upgrade which is no net increase in seats taken.

Somehow I don't think that was standard staff travel but rather duty travel, which has differing conditions and for QF I think that's guaranteed J.

Yep, my poor choice of words saying staff travel. They were all in uniform, but still served food last, and lots had to take up seats in Y.

Anyway, back on topic, let us know Ansett if you've had any better luck calling again?

Thanks defurax, very quick turnaround! I have a revenue J ticket on QF25, looks like its not a full cabin yet. Unfortunately only Y on JL307, with no prospects!

Looking at J5 C5 D4 I1

What chances I will get, assuming they have 5 business available still

Thank you

Any status with QF? if you're not WP, I would say pretty low given that Y is sold out and others may have potentially also requested for an upgrade.

Hi

Unfortunately no, just regular bronze.

i thought Y is a full fare economy not a business as I looked in first page.

thank you

Y as in the economy cabin is sold out. This means that there are potentially more requests (and those with higher status than you) that would be ahead of you.
