PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Mods - is there a better way to remind / enforce the requirement that origin and destination be included in these requests. Some flights are easy but it shouldn't be expected that this info is known.

I have previously raised this but the concern was too clunky a title.

However, the existing title is arguably unnecessarily wordy. Why not change the thread title to something like: 'Flight help desk (essential: provide date, origin & destination).'

I wouldn't say "flight help desk" as that could imply helping with all matters pertaining to flights but rather say "Availability help desk"?

Or even something that includes "Read instructions in Post#1" ?

Sorry JohnM, I forgot you asked about this not long ago too!

There are two 'help desks'. One for Seating and one for Loadings. They need to be differentiated.

The Moderation team will consider the suggestions as well as further alternatives.

I think it needs to be in the thread title to ensure it is read and heeded.

True - though the benefit of referring to post 1 is it (might) help avoid the next most common gripe..... "What do these numbers mean?"

If the mods can consider something that would be great - if not, I'll ease up on supporting the non-compliant folk and see if that helps them get the message.

Edit: Just seen your post serfty - thanks.

There are actually 7 allocated pax in F atm. The numbers in the loadings don't add up to make total number of seats available it just means there are at least that many seats the airline is willing to sell in that bucket.

Given I am a lowly SG, that surely makes my chances of a J -> F upgrade fairly low. I will have to wait to enjoy the F experience another time...

Could a prompt for the required information be included in the text box that opens when a user hits '+ Reply to Thread'?
e.g.

In your request make sure to include:

Date:

Flight number:

Departure and arrival airports

I am not sure that the website engine will support that, but it is certainly worth investigating.

Could even be made unable to submit, if data not provided in all required fields. I was probably spoilt in my employment, because when designing and revising interactive data collection forms I would just request the developers to do it. :D

However that would mean the member providing the info asked for would also have to retype the same info.

Hey all,

Hoping for some advice.

QF476 PER-MEL on 14FEB.

I have a request for a Y-J upgrade in for myself and wife. What're the chances?

Cheers!

I don't think so, as the member providing advice would normally either "Reply" or "Reply with Quote" which is just a normal text box, as it is now - anyway, just a thought.

Did you mean QF776?

J9 C9 D9 I6 U2 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X9 E9

A bit too far out to tell.

Not really, when there's U availability upgrade requests should clear instantly. It would be too far out to tell if there was no U availability, but that's moot anyway as it's the wrong flight.

Hi All,

Could anyone advise me on the likelihood of a Y to J upgrade on QF6 from SIN to SYD, Fri 22nd Jan please? I'm not quite across all of the booking class codes so a little explanation would be great also. Many thanks in advance.

Steve
