PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

I'm wondering about loadings for this Sunday 20 March QF12 LAX - SYD: any likelihood of J to F?

Congratulations on your upgrades ,I was on your flight ,my wife & I got J upgrades from Y+.
Thanks for your note ,if there was more time I would have tried to thank you personally ,I think the CSM did a great job.

Yes, Annie and her onboard staff were absolutely magnificent (I must send a note to RedRoo about her).
In a massive contrast to the QF12 team, my final domestic leg SYD-MEL flight had the most lacklustre unengaging FAs I've come across in a long time.

(As for the note, I didn't realise I was "preaching to the choir" ! )

Hi all,

My first time entering the lottery, just wondering if someone could check out QF73 on the 30th of March for me.

Thanks

As a relative newbie you may not realise that we need the airports to do the search for seat availability. While sometimes we might immediatley recognise these from the flight number, it is much easier if the full details are provided.

Prospects look ok: J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y3 B3 H3 K3 M3 L3 G0

Thanks for the advice, and appreciate the lookup.

Cheers

Can someone check QF16 out of LAX for this Wednesday night please. Mrs BJ is travelling back and I've asked for an upgrade to J for her.

Thanks in advance.

Can somebody please search the following loading for me please?

MEL-PER (QF485) Thursday 28 April 16.

TIA

Thanks in advance
Loadings for 16 April QF 028 SCL to Syd. My company has booked me O class, so no chance of points upgrade. If there is room in J, I would be willing to pay extra for an upgradeable economy ticket. ALSO, is this even possible if I ring Qantas direct to change tkt class? I am QF FF Gold

Pardon my ignorance, do these loadings indicate that there are plenty of empty seats at the tail end (as indicated by the present seating map) and I would be better served by not requesting an upgrade to J after attempting to pay for an upgradeable economy tkt from the O class that my company has paid for OR stay with O and try to grab a few empty seats to stretch out. Do the figures only indicate that there are a MINIMUM of 9 seats in economy still up for sale? I realise that a more expensive economy seat will guve me more SC's than O tkt.

The loadings indicate there are at least 9 seats available in business and at least 9 available in economy.
Probably a lot more than 9 in economy. Seats can appear in multiple fare buckets so you can't just add them up, but even the cheaper fare buckets are showing 9, suggesting more are available.
I am not sure if you will be able to upgrade even if you pay extra - sometimes the fine print says that the original fare conditions continue to apply.
Although I think that refers more to cancellation, changes, fees etc.
I would definitely ask about the whole deal up front and only proceed if you can do it all.

If it's the first flight you're changing, you'll be up for any fare difference as of today's fares as well which could easily be hundreds coming from O class.

There's plenty of premium economy seats too. Looks like it could be a relatively empty flight, so getting some spare economy seats near you may be the best plan. Still, give QF a call and see.
