PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

So very hard to say whether a F upgrade is more likely on either day yet? The seat map (which can be viewed for free) showed a lot more seats selected on the Thursday though some people never choose their seat before check-in. The sale ends soon so I guess I'll have to book and hope for the best. Would be my first time in F if successful. However I'm only a WP so the P1s and CL and higher value WP's could easily get the upgrades in preference to me.

A9 is better than A8, so I guess November 3 would be the best bet.

The question i guess is do I value the higher upgrade chance more than having the whole weekend over there. Decisions, decisions...

Nice one! Hope you enjoy(ed).
Thanks a lot, I did indeed. Had a very noisy infant in the seat behind me (I was in 2A) which was very unfortunate so I didn't get any sleep at all but I used the time available to feast even more. Crew and food was excellent, I prefer it over EK First in that respect. Have taken loads of pictures and intend to post them in a proper trip report once I am back!

Glad you enjoyed. Looking forward to the TR. While OT, I am surprised to hear you prefer the food on QF F to EK F !!

Decided for the Wednesday flight in the end. Hope that's a bit less popular for F than the Thursday and was cheaper than the Friday 3rd option. I'll find out in two and half months. Can't wait!

Hi, can somebody please check loading on QR1129 (MCT>DOH) on the 20th of September.

Trying to sort out a re-route due to the Qatar issue, and for some reason this flight isn't showing any availability. Curious if I have any chance with requesting 2x Y seats being released.

Just follow up on my quiry posted here previously.
We end up booking economy SVO-HKG +premium economy sale for HKG-MEL and requested upgrade reward.
All went smooth, got upgraded with both Aeroflot (exceptional aircraft and service) and Qantas as well.
Got long connection in HKIA but PierJ lounge was very good help.
The only downside was QF B-747-400 was really outdated and filled with personnel of my grandma age. Entertanment system, food served was far behind best industrie examples. At least we got good sleep on board arriving fresh to start our new life in beautiful Melbourne.
For balance of 16000 miles it's not bad.
But I would never use Classic Reward for QF30, next time will definetely stick to Cathay
Hi all,
I am travelling from Moscow SVO to MEL with wife and infant 17 Aug.
My business tickets are paid by employer but for rest of my family I plan to book economy tickets and then upgrade it into Business.
I is very efficient way to do it with Skyteam miles on Aeroflot flights in terms of mile/dollar value.
But because I am new to Australia I am note sure that this is the case with QF. I already can see that QFF is not as good as Aeroflot bonus as you can only request upgrade from Economy to Business on QF flight only, not on the rest of OneWorld partners, knowing that QF international network is very limited compare to SU. This already limits me from choosing flash CX105 service on new A350 to old QF30 on B747 :(

I wonder what else should I consider in my game with Qantas?
Classic Reward would cost me 60.000 mils + 145AUD for 1+infant (I need to transfer miles from my Qantas Gold onto wife's Bronze account)
Upgrade reward will be 1188AUD for Premium Economy Sale fare + 27,500 miles (+ 3900 miles to wife's Bronze and 60 status points, but is't not really considered as she is not flying much any way)
So I end up with around 1000AUD for 33000 miles.
Is it a good deal?
What are the chances for upgrade on QF30?
If people experienced with QF could reflect on this would appreciate it, thanks!

Thanks. Hoping I can get row 4 at T-80 though that might be unlikely with so few flights on this route.

An upgrade from cheap Y fares is pretty expensive on this route anyway so I was unlikely to apply for that.

You may be in luck if you get in quick. At the moment ExpertFlyer shows every seat in rows 4 & 5 as blocked rather than allocated.
Which can be distinguished from the exit rows 13 & 14 in which 10 seats currently show as blocked but 2 show as allocated.
Interestingly the back 3 rows are completely blocked. I don't think MEL-CNS is near the full payload range limit of a B738 so I can only assume the aircraft has some weight allowance reserved for freight.

Rows 4 and 5 are empty and selectable (not blocked) by me according to Expertflyer - which usually means no CLs on the flight who are yet to choose Y seats. As esseeeayeenn says, you could be in luck.
