PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Could anyone confirm for me that If using your points for someone elses classic upgrade that person who previously purchased economy or premium economy eligible for upgrade will not get points they would normally qualify to with original booking?

I recently upgraded my wifes flexible economy from my gold account. But she didn't get any points for this flight.
I tried to claim mising points and got this: CLAIMED ON ANOTHER FF SCHEME
QF 030 ECONOMY 17AUG17 HONG KONG/MELBOURNE

No, if the upgrade is the only thing going on then she should have received the points for the flexible economy fare she booked - if that was a paid fare to begin with.
But this is OT in this thread.

That has to be an error ... hopefully you still have your wife's original e-ticket email.

You will need to contact QFF.

Any info on QF51 BNE - SIN for this Saturday 9th sept departing at 12noon.

Im just going to fly economy and I'm trying to work a "poor man's business class" set up and increase my chances of an empty seat next to me.

Its an a330 service, I've selected a window seat at the moment .... wondering if I should choose a centre aisle on the row of 4 seats instead.

LTG status

Cheers

thanks. 27A is me at the moment. I guess that looks like a fairly light load even for economy ... but had to tell this early out.

Yeah, probably difficult to tell until check-in opens up. You'll notice that many solo travellers tend to choose the aisle seats in the window pairs, maybe because they prefer it, but I tend to do this in the hopes that someone won't knowingly box themselves in and choose the window by me :) Often works on a lightly loaded flight, but some pax just pick whatever they like the look of and as close to the front as they can, without thinking of such conundrums. Good luck!

Cheers,
Matt.

yeah, I know what you mean. I think my best chance is an aisle seat on the row of 4. seems like they fill up the rows of 2 and then the outsides of the center row of 4 and then the middle seats - just based on my experience. I just wanted a window seat to look out the window on the way up ...

I'll keep an eye on it over the next couple of days.

Wondering what the flight loads are like for the flights from LAX on Sat 14th October, on QF94 to MEL, QF12 to SYD and QF16 to BNE, please. Looking for recommendations as to which to pick for the best upgrade chance from Y to J for a WP. Or should I stick with QF74 even though lounge access in SFO is poor on a Sat night with two CX flights in the early hours of Sun morning?

QF 94LAX 10:10p → MEL 7:55a

QF 12LAX 10:30p → SYD 7:20a
F6 A0 J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 R9 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0

QF 16LAX 11:20p → BNE 6:10a
J9 C9 D0 I0 W9 R6 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 G0

QF 74 SFO 11:25p → SYD 8:00a
J9 C9 D9 I1 W9 R9 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 G0

QF74 has the marginally greater availability at this time. It is still a fair way off. QF 12 looks ok

So either QF12 or QF74 but too early to tell which way to go. Thanks. Would love to try the FLounge in LAX though I guess I probably won't get much time.

What about QF73 on Friday 6th October and Saturday 7th October. Are they good days of the week to pick for upgrades?

Still a little time to pass, but looking at the D & I buckets, your lightest loads and so [hopefully] highest probability of upgrade are on QF74 and QF12. You've got less paid up premium pax travelling on SFO-SYD as well, and so it's more likely to stay lighter, unless a family or group book in. That said, there's no F on QF74 to push some of your J pax into, either. In the end, it remains a lottery, sorry!

Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks. Yes, I'm undecided about QF74 vs QF12. Would be nice to try the FLounge in LAX whilst I have access to it.

Any ideas about QF73 (SYD-SFO) on Friday 6th October or Saturday 7th October? Are those good days to fly to the US for upgrade chances or not? An upgrade would be a big help for beating jet lag.

The other consideration is further J seat upgrade options could be available on those services which have an F cabin through upgrades from J to F. I'd lean towards QF12 at this time
