PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

For reference, two upgrades from J to F have come through for me, just a touch over 7 days in advance of flights SYD- SIN and SIN-MEL. Flights were showing F9 A9 at the time. I am P1 so 7 days is the stated time if available. Would have been good to know if it would have come through at less than 9s.

I’m trying to book a revenue seat on a UL flight ( UL302 on 27/4/19) which I already have a confirmed award seat booking for my wife. Expert flyer is showing availability as follows

Qantas are saying it’s full which I’m struggling to believe this far out. I’m thinking the C’s indicate it has been cancelled. The UL website is not showing it available to book but I today changed seat selections as a test on the award seat. I’m avoiding the perceived pain of trying to get an answer out of UL. Any thoughts on what this availability is showing?

I've just run the same search and I get zeros, rather than Cs, in all fare buckets on both the mobile and desktop versions of EF. Have you called UL to verify the status, including whether your wife's booking is likely to be impacted?

Cheers,
Matt.

Weird thanks for checking Matt. If I again run expert flyer searching for UL flights I get the C’s still. If I run it using QF as the airline I get zeros.

With the airline as QF

QF 3500 CMB 7:25a → SIN 2:05p
J0 C0 D0 I0 Y0

UL 302 CMB 7:25a → SIN 2:05p
J0 C0 B0 P0 H0 K0 W0 M0

With the airline as UL

UL 302 CMB 7:25a → SIN 2:05p
JC CC DC IC YC BC PC HC KC WC MC EC LC RC VC SC NC QC OC

I’ll have to try calling UL and hope they are not too painful to talk with

I searched using UL, and with no codeshares. My default country of sale is USA - maybe that is the difference?

If it's possible to book with them, then that's what I'd be doing. You can always put in your QFF number and it will show up in MMB - likely same/similar SCs for this sector. They might even be able to link the award PNR to the revenue one, presuming they are selling it!

C means "Waitlist Closed".

Basically means it's sold out and than likely oversold.

Maybe if you have some flex ring UL or QF and see if you can both be moved to another flight to help the situation and get a better deal?

Thank you both. I can’t get the flight to show online to book through either the QF or UL websites. I’ll have to call them.

I’m struggling to believe an A330 is completely sold out 8 months out so I expect they have closed it for bookings due to a change. If I look at the seat map there is only 1 lonely pax in 1A for the entire plane

Yes asked that question this morning and was told by QF that there was no U availability on the later flight. Hoping I suppose if the original flight is cancelled UL will move her to the later flight and I can then purchase a seat on that later flight. It will leave a 2 hour transit in SIN which is getting a bit tight but not undoable

@kermatu did you upgrade just the SYD-SIN and SIN-MEL sectors and were you only traveling to/from SIN. I am assuming these flights are QF1 and QF36.

Just enquiring as I have bookings on QF1 and QF36 going as far as SIN. I have put in for F upgrades however reservations or SST could advise/ clarify if a long haul (AU-UK, UK,-AU) request for upgrades would take priority over the AU-SG, SG-AU upgrade.

I found the time to call UL and they confirmed the flight is sold out. It must be a very large group booking. I’ve atleast learnt what C means in terms of fare availability. Now to change some bookings and look at options for getting from Colombo to Singapore

You've got an MI (Silk Air) direct option just under 4 hours later at 11:05AM, that gets you into SIN at 5:30PM, and then the next UL option is your last direct choice, departing CMB at 12:15PM and landing Changi at 6:55PM. Both are single aisle options, as well :(
