PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Edit: @justinbrett beat me to it!

Thanks guys!! Only if QF confirms my upgrade like you guys do :p

Fingers crossed I can get an upgrade

I think that's for op-ups. For points rewards I would hazard a guess it follows the list on their website in reverse order:
It's all conjecture beyond status bands.

But it seemed to be booking class (fare bucket) related in the time leading up to the introduction of Altea around the turn of the decade - from there there's been no clear cut anecdote that I have seen. Fare bucket still may be taken into account, but maybe $$$ spend on the flight and in the past are also factors.

More here: International Upgrades - the pecking order

According to the points hacks website it’s fare buckets.

But agree, nobody knows for sure. It does seem much more likely to be upgraded from Y+ than standard Y, which makes absolute sense.

Hi all,
looking to get a snapshot of the loading for tomorrows QF62 HND-BNE, 13 September. Traveling Y and wondering if it's worth assigning seats down the back of the aircraft and hopefully snag the 4 centre seats or stay in the J/K seats we have up front of the Y cabin?
Thanks!

Still J7 C3 (it went up to J8 and now back to J7).

Looks like I've survived the WP1 upgrades, hopefully not too many WPs. I'm in Premium Economy so I'm assuming I'll be at the top of the list for SG upgrades.

Any idea how many seats they keep for last minute sales / changes? I'm guessing on a 787 it would be about 2.

So 36 hours out now and there’s been no change. Still J7. Weird.

I’m guessing:
A) QF has other plans for those seats (how does staff J travel fit in to this process?)
B) QF wants to give it just a little bit longer hoping they can sell some of the seats
C) There are no WPs on the flight who requested upgrades
D) WPs will be processed some time this morning during business hours with SG following overnight / tomorrow morning

Edit: As of 0800, it's now J5 and W has gone up to 2 (was 0). Looks like 2 WP travelling Y+ just got upgraded.

Much happy dancing going on right now...

J upgrade (QF95, B787) came through this afternoon around 1730, slightly before the 28h mark. I'm guessing the upgrades tend to occur during business hours.

I was given 4K but changed it to 12K as I'd like a bit of privacy to sleep - anyone have any thoughts on that? I guess as they say, there's no bad seats in business.

After speaking to 3 (!) CSEs on different calls, finally got through to someone who seemed to understand my request. She says there’s no longer any need for them to input requests on their end. Hope she’s right.

Coming up to T-60 and hope to know around T-48 ...
