Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Could someone please give me an update on

QF2 26 July LHR-SYD departing 9:05pm.
The expert flyer seat map is showing all J seats chosen except for 2 blocked seats when searching the whole way LHR-SYD.

I am currently SG (will be back to WP after this) and travelling solo have requested an upgrade as late as at the gate with a paid exit row seat as my fallback.

Am I correct in thinking the only way I can get upgraded on QF2 LHR-SIN is if I get QF2 SIN-SYD as well? There are more seats not selected on the LHR-SIN leg which leads me to think the loads are lighter.

I like a challenge! This is availability based on QR airport pair options on those dates... the flight numbers you reference don't appear for KUL-DOH on those dates. Also, QR1349 is Doha to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (JRO), not Morocco (CMN), and also not scheduled that day. Not sure which you need, but have added both.

Earlier today, I was flustered (polite description) after my third wasted call fruitlessly talking to brick walls in Philippines and South Africa call centres and rushing to make a medical appointment.

The request should have read :

QR 845 Oct 9 KUL-DOH 20:35pm
QR 853 Oct10 KUL-DOH 02:45am
QR1397 Oct 10 DOH-CMN 07:30am

(Seems QR & QF have been telling a few fibs saying there are no available seats in business for the two KUL-DOH flights above. QR bumped me off both flights where I had confirmed and ticketed seats saying oversold or the flight was cancelled)

No problem - and worth noting that there is no QR853 that comes up on the 10th Oct - it’s just QR845 - so perhaps what they are looking at is the demand across the combined flights?
