PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

i'm looking at qantas ff. thanks for this, yeah i remember higher tier members could access more options but was just trying my luck to see if there's any available to general member
No problems, unfortunately MH award redemptions can't be searched using Expert Flyer.

If QFF shows availability for you then you should be able to book.

Hello! Helping a friend book to Colombia, she's WP and wanting to know if worthwhile asking for J rewards to be released to/ from USA, or will have to play the upgrade lottery

Current draft flights:
04APR QF7 SYD-DFW Direct 787-900 | DEP 1650 ARR 1605 (15h15m)
[or 5th/6th/7th]

return:
21APR QF12 LAX-SYD Direct A380 | DEP 2345 ARR 0810 Tue 23APR (15h25)

Any advice appreciated - also maybe i should subscribe to whatever service facilitates this search. Can someone PM me details??

She may have hope of a seat release on the return and an upgrade looks ok but the flights there are very unlikely and upgrades will be tight

Thanks for the help and interpretation. 😁😁

I managed to find reward seats for the whole of the journey in the multi city tool SYD-DFW-MIA-CTG-MDE-MIA-LAX-SYD for around QFF144000 + $440 and was quite happy at that.

I am hopeful that armed with this info she can get through to Hobart and have someone book the whole trip with some long-haul comfort as well

Hi all - could I please get this flight checked...
Its QF295 SYD to BKK
25 April 2024.
I have a Classic Rewards redemption in Premium Economy and have put in a Classic Upgrade Request to Business.
Will be very interested to see how QF handle the upgrades - the QF SYD to BKK flighys are usually very full with upgrades pretty rare. The addition of the Premium Economy cabin might change the chances now...
Thanks heaps!
