PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: Chances of Op Up?

Not looking good for our Y->J upgrade coming through on QF94 on 15Nov... Flight seems just a little full :) Hoping a couple of J passengers will upgrade to F... Very hopeful though :)

Re: Chances of Op Up?

Re: Chances of Op Up?

So a reasonable chance of a points upgrade to premium?
6 weeks out? Not too bad. All the cheap economy fare buckets are zeroed, but that could be a YM restriction based upon the festive season.

Re: Chances of Op Up?

So I was watching the loadings on QF94 a few days ago as I was on it, and it showed everything was full 0's across the board. Yet in Economy there were a few spare seats mainly in the middle up the front of the Y cabin, but a few more scattered around as well... what would be the reason for this? Surely they wouldn't block a seat from sale due to a WP Shadow? which is what it looked like these seats were...

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

I realise this is way ahead...

But I've just booked and paid MEL-LAX//JFK-LAX-BNE in QF Premium Economy for next June. As a QF Plat, what would my chances of an upgrade to business be realistically? Not expecting a freebie by any means, but assuming I put in a points request...

Many thanks :)

7 months out is really way ahead and you are unlikely to get a definite view.

See post #1 for information on how to get the loadings yourself from flightstats - and also a link to how to ascertain what the loadings may indicate.

Re: QF11 Load Question

Could someone give me the numbers for QF8 DFW-BNE on Dec 5, specifically PE and Bus?
Also same day QF16 LAX-BNE?
Can go either way but trying to maximise chance of points upgrade from PE to Bus.
Also there is more to do in LA than Dallas...

Thanks.

There is some advice on how to do it yourself in post #1 of this thread.

Re: QF11 Load Question

Or not.

So Serfty says there are none...I assume that is what unavailable means...but when I use the flightstats thing he mentions in post 1 I get plenty of seats...
Now I am confused...

Now I am confused...

Ignore the unavailable thing, it's not to do with seats. You want to look at the Booking Classes and available seats. BNE LAX has plenty of J and W seats... more specifically there are some in the 'U' and 'T' buckets which are the upgrade buckets.

J9 C9 D9 I9 U2 W9 R9 T9

But that could change between now and then. I'd say you're chances of an upgrade are higher on QF16.

Re: QF11 Load Question

Thank you ferni, that is correct - as per the post #1: "Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories)."

Sorry, the unavailable on those expert flyer source information refers to flight "frequency" - nothing to do with passenger loadings.
