PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Hi,
I have checked Flightstats and QF475 MEL-PER (11 JAN 13) is showing U9 yet my upgrade request did not clear instantly and is now on the wait list. I was under the impression that if award seats were available then DOM upgrades would be processed instantly. Is Flightstats perhaps showing the wrong number of seats in U? I someone able to have a look at EF?
cheers
B

I2 U0 on EF. Will probably clear just not immediately. -1 for flightstats again.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

hi all, a newbie here with few questions.

We are flying to Europe in July and I am searching for Qantas fares that will allow an upgrade with points from Discount Economy to Premium Economy (or higher).

Flight we are considering:
Total route Syd – Bud. Fly out 20/7 , flight QF1 to LHR and then BA866 to Budapest. Only want to upgrade the QF1 flight, both legs if possible.
Fly back 2/8 similar to going down, fly to LHR from Bud BA867 and then QF2 all the way to Syd.

I rang Qantas and they said that on their website, if I buy the “Sale” deal that comes up in search, I can’t upgrade the seats to anything. If I buy the “Red E-Deal” it says under conditions “Flight Upgrade Awards are not eligible on all Red e-Deal fares. Flight Upgrades can only be redeemed on Qantas operated flights.”. When I asked Qantas about this, they said that not all tickets will allow me an upgrade. Now this sucks because the fare is $600 per person more (so goes from $2600 to $3200) and I would hate to be in a position where we spend 2x$600 to buy tickets so we can upgrade with points just to find out that we can’t if that makes sense. How do I know then if the fare I am getting under that classification is upgradeable or not?

So, my question is, what’s the best way to search for tickets that show classes so I can determine if the fare I am buying is upgradeable?

Also, I came across an expertflyer . com site which has class lists (sorry cant post links yet). It says that it “Provides the airline by airline breakdown of award bucket codes to help search for award space by fare bucket code.” For Qantas, for Premium Economy it is Z if I’m correct.

Now when I use the flightstats search engine and look up the flight that seems most convenient to us (the $2600 I mentioned above) this is what I get for coach : W/9 R/9 T/6 Z/0 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/0 S/9 N/0 Q/9 O/9 G/0 X/2 E/0 . Z is zero, does that mean that on this flight there are no upgrade seats available in Premium Economy that I can get on to ?

Btw I’m Gold QFF which I know is not much and prob wont help with upgrades etc.

As a rule of thumb, any fare that books into E, O, N, Q or X class is not normally upgradeable.

When booking to find these fare classes for each segment before paying see here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ent-flyer-program/qf-booking-class-22124.html

Re: Chances of a points upgrade ?

I am currently booked on QF93 MEL-LAX next Wed 16th Jan. It is one week out and Expert Flyer shows F6 A6 J9 C9 D9 I9, anyone suggest the chance of J -> F upgrade, or is it still too early to tell. Currently have 8 F seats allocated, but heaps of J seats not allocated. Thanks in advance.

Re: International Upgrades - Improved Experience

Slight off topic, but perhaps someone would be kind enough to help -
Partner and I booked on QF93 MEL-LAX 7 Feb in J and have point upgrade request in to F - Both gold members. Anyone know what our chances would be of upgrade coming through?
Much appreciated.

Expertflyer shows F9 and three seats currently allocated so that's probably as much as you could hope for this far out.

Re: Chances of a points upgrade ?

We're travelling on CX883 LAX to HKG on 13 January, could someone please look at loadings and advise any prospect of an Op-Up? Thanks in advance !

On a flight with such loadings, upgrades to J should be a "shoo-in".

This is not the case for J to F; I would guess better than 50/50 for a WP, less otherwise.

Spruce sounds like a good chance then. I wonder can I ask chances on 24th J to F qf 9 Mel-Sin then Sin Lon on qf2? and get the same deal :D lol

Thanks Serfty, less than 72hrs before flight, still F6 A4, so I remain positive. If upgrade doesn't come through, I'll be in 12E so not the end of the world.

Text came through about an hour ago - upgrade confirmed, was actually just before T-48hrs.
Now showing F4, so imagine there were 2 WP upgraded on the flight. Have selected seat 2K. Can't wait!

Hi guys, first post but I think I've found the correct place for this question.

QFF status not worth considering.

Myself and partner flying QF9 MEL -> LHR 31st Jan

In Y with points upgrade request to J and then to Y+ if J doesn't work.

What's the flight status like and what are my chances of an upgrade of some sort?

Also, being around 2 weeks out, could I expect many more seat sales or would the results that hopefully someone can post for me be pretty close to what the flight will be like?
