PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Can someone please tell me if there are any decent seats left on QF009 on 25 October and QF010 on 4 November? Interested in bulkhead, 80A or 80K and is it 71D?

Judging by the current sale I would hazard a guess that both of these flights are not that full.

QF9 OCT25 MEL/SIN (388)

Certainly nothing I'd call decent I'm afraid - but I can see a couple forward aisle seats (51C, 52C, 54G -- though these are all perilously close to the bassinet positions) still available. Row 66 completely unoccupied, but good luck convincing QF Premium that any of these are non-exit row seats.

QF10 NOV04 SIN/MEL (744)

Plenty of seats in the "mini cabin" in rows 40-41 available. 40G looks to be the pick of the bunch.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Thanks notzac.

Best chance for "better" seats at this late stage would appear to be the 747.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

A very quick easy one hopefully.

Can someone tell me whether seatmaps indicate a Dreamtime 763 (1-2-2 J class) on the following flights? Or just a Millenium 763?

Also general flight avails in both J and Y on the flights.

Thanks v much

Thurs 28th October PER - SYD

QF 572 (depart 7:05)
QF 578 (depart 9:35)

Thank you straitman for the quick response :)

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

*sigh*

I've tried, truly I have, but I admit defeat. I get the impression that this is a really important thread, especially as I have been so far unsuccessful in getting my requested points upgrades from econ to bus on longhaul flights... but I can't for the life of me understand this thread at all!

Are people asking for advice on how full their flight is, to ascertain whether a points upgrade is likely to be successful?

Where do those that respond get their info from?

And what the heck to strings like this mean?:

Thanks for helping a clueless noob.

I ended up going a day earlier on QF31 SYD-SIN and was pre-allocated 40G. Ended up with 40EF vacant and one of the quietest flights I have had in a long time.

It would be nice to have all this information handy but can't quite justify an expert flyer subscription for a few international trips a year. Hope the free versions re-appear some time soon.

For occasional use, you can subscribe for a month for as little as $4.99 USD. Use it months you need it, cancel it when you don't, you don't have to maintain a subscription year round (some people think you do). Hope it helps.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I wasn't aware there were monthly subscriptions available to Expert Flyer.

Thanks for that useful information ExpertFlyer Voice.

That is handy to know, although to me my yearly subscription paid for itself with the seat alert letting me know Row 40 on the 747 was available on my last 3 flights, and 80A on the A380. The rest now is a bonus!

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi All,

Looking for some EF information on the following flights:

Code:
QF127 30OCT10 (tomorrow)
QF3861 31OCT10 (Codeshare CX293)

Both paid Y tickets.
QF127 - Have put in for a points upgrade to J. Chances?
QF3861 - hoping for an opup, does Y seem quite full?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Code:

F9 A9 P8 J9 C9 D9 I0 U9 W9 R9 T8 Z9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X1 E0

Chance of points upgrade looking good! U9 says that QF want to get rid of biz award seats on this flight.

Code:
[b]CX293 HKG/FCO 31OCT2010[/b]
J3 C2 D1 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V8 S5 N5 Q2 O0

Op-up is doubtful ... biz looks pretty full, while whY is wide open. Seatmap looks pretty full in biz, with only two open and four blocked J seats. Pack your sleeping tablet of choice ;)

Thanks a bunch notzac.

Points upgrade came through which is nice.

Now will look to the gods for HKG-FCO... :)

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi All,

I've booked Y seats for my wife and I on CX178 on Wednesday 3rd November. Just wondering how the loads are looking and whether we have any chance at all of an op-up. I doubt it though.

Pretty empty flight up the back; J is probably ~75% allocated. I don't like your chances I'm afraid :(

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi there - could someone let me know if any U class availability on QF759 SYD-ADL Nov 6th?

Thanks!

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Yes, there are 4 seats.

How flexible are your plans though? QF759 is a 734 with convertible J seats. If possible I'd go with QF765 which is a 738 - leaves 2 hours later and has 5 U seats available.

(note: availability is to me as a WP. Your mileage may vary).
