PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I have recently moved to 4B/E and about 10 minutes later 4C/D become available. This has happened on more than one flight (It was closer to T-80 though).;)

I tried that about 40 hours ago. Switch back to 6D this morning. 4B/C have opened and closed a couple of times. But someone is in 4B now. It is really interesting now I have EF to see this stuff.

It really does open up a whole new world, doesn't it :?:

It sure does. But technology let me down on the first outing. Got my seat alert as I was leaving Mascot train station. Damn 2 year old iPhone just would not log in to QF site for about 10 minutes. Probably a QF mobile website issue. So I missed the seat. But for a first go this is a great system.

I think EF is great, I don't travel as frequently as most people on here but find the ability to look at loads and upgrade opportunities prior to booking excellent. Also snagged some great seats thanks to alerts.

For some reason, it removed every single capital letter from my reply, including the OP... strange...

Thanks guys, the boss (WP) isn't happy that there's not much chance of an op-up with all those Y seats still available!

Certainly no chance on BA26.

Points request for QF67 is that possible.

Tell Boss to lower expectations when it comes to op ups and be happy!

There would normally be no chance of op-up(s) for a Platinum with 5 others in tow. Unless your boss is greedy and only cares about himself....

The boss only has one other passenger in his itinerary (QPNB) so he's got a better chance then when all six of us were on it, and trust me when I say he would DEFINITELY take the upgrade ... he is a Scotsman after all!

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Going SYD - LAX this Thursday... on a 747 of course!

Anyway booked into D and EF is showing availability as follows:

F3 A1 J7 C0 D0 I0 W0 everything else 0.

Am WP and applied for upgrade to F about 6 weeks ago.

Two questions: 1. Are things looking good for points upgrade, and
2. What would be the odds on an op-up? :p

Paddy

On those figures the chance for a points upgrade is remote for D class; an involuntary upgrade less likely ...

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I am on QF 29 on the 21st dec. Trip it are calling the flight a 2 class 747, can someone verify that ?

Also QF 29 on the 6th dec, both flights are MEL-HKG

Thanks for that

What chance of a points upgrade?

I am booked on QF077 from PER to SIN in a couple of weeks and back at the end of January on QF072. It appears that economy class is sold out from PER to SIN. I am contemplating applying for a points upgrade and I have a couple of questions regarding the procedure.
1) How much chance would I have as I am only a lowly Bronze level FF? I am booked in V class, I think.
2) How soon before the flight would I be informed if my request was successful?
3) Is there anything I should be aware of, when applying for an upgrade?

Re: What chance of a points upgrade?

As a QF NB, you have little chance, points or operational.

I wouldn't know how many elites would be on the PER/SIN sector, so you can try and apply for a points upgrade and test your luck. You'll know if you're upgraded at check-in. (By policy, it should be within 24 hours of departure, but from experience most people only get it cemented properly at check-in).

For a 5 hour flight I'd be thinking hard as to whether you really want to upgrade with points. It's not a trivial cost (unless you are awash with points), and the only benefit you'll get is to sleep in a Skybed (Skyslope) for perhaps the good part of 2-3 hours.
