PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

The instructions are in post 1 ... click the
line-item-carrot.png
's to see fare buckets.

In any case, op up chances seem remote:

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/9
Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/2 Q/9 O/9 G/4 E/0

One of the problems may be that the instruction in post #1 appear to refer to a previous iteration of Flightstats.

Go to www.flightstats.com. Under the Flights menu, select flight availability, which should take you here: FlightStats | Flight Airline Seat Availability

Enter the route/date info, the press the 'Search Flight Availability' tab. On the resulting table, there is a column called 'Seats'. For further details on a flight, click on the row that represents the flight, and further details will open up.

ahh now I see, said the blind man to the deaf camel. Got it. Thanks.

Oh dear- thanks so much guys, I had no idea that Flightstats gives you that functionality now! Almost signed up for Expertflyer but I'll keep my wallet in my pockets now :p

Saying that- all my flights coming up in two weeks are full to the brim so no upgrade goodness for me it seems :-|

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Just logged into MB to check seat map for QF93 J this thursday. I can now see F seat map, but says wait listed.

Is this normal for wait listed to see?

EDIT: Now J again... :(

Not sure. However, there are 5 free seats showing in F

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

I know that 9 is the basic number for availabilty, but can someone tell me for Singapore Airlines first class - is it also 9 ? most of the dates I am checking has it at 7.

Airlines can vary the highest number to be shown, even between classes. QF use 9's, many airlines use 7.

NZ use 4 for business and 7 for economy.

I'm not sure what SQ employ, but if a few searches shows numbers no higher than seven, then that is likely it.

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Your report gave me (and, I'm sure, others) a lot of hope.

Thank you

I should add, that I also had 12 e/f in emerald city before as well... Maybe it could have a name change to Ruby Town? ;)

Funny, I had no issues grabbing those seats a few months ago.

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Hi Everyone

Can some one kindly advise on the probability of an OP UP on QF 9 Mel to Sing on 30th March?

Currently in Y

Also if anyone else is on this flight and wants access to the F lounge PM me

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Q, any reason (other than the obvious) a flight disappears from EF? QF1 tomorrow SYD-SIN

It's not showing on the QF booking engine either.

Could be fully booked seeing its Easter. Flight withdrawn from sale

Been watching as we're on it and I've got an upgrade request in. The flight was showing pretty empty in all classes right up to when it disappeared this afternoon. It was showing U9 yesterday & J had a total 18 seats free & another 19 blocked.....same sort of numbers throughout all other cabins.

I've noticed flights disappear from EF from time to time and just as suddenly reappear for no obvious reason.
U9 does seem a bit unusual though, don't think I've ever seen that.

Hooray, just received that lovely text from the QF fairy.....the FOUR of us got point upgraded from el cheapo sale tickets into J :D

FWIW they put three of us in row 19 & my 12 year old NB straight into emerald city. Can't do anything about it now as the cabin is showing full bar exit row.

This is my first upgrade request experience.....happy, happy camper!

BTW QF1 is back on line with EF......maybe QF disconnect prior to allocating upgrade requests?

How did you get the upgrade request in against the sale tickets?
