PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: Qf 11

Do I content myself with a likely WP shadow in PE, or go for the 25k points J upgrade? Will they even process a points request when its so empty?

Sure they will - since they are less likely to garner some real $$$ (as indicated by J loadings) they'll happily wipe 25k QFF points of the books.

Re: Qf 11

Hi,
I'm flying the following in PE but have enough QFF points to upgrade one of them to J.
Sat Aug 30th: SYD-JNB QF63
Sat Oct 11: JNB-SYD QF64
I'm planning on applying to upgrade for the return because it's a night flight and I have to be ready to work at 8am the following morning (get into Syd at 15:05).

What do you think are my chances?

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies JohnM and Must...Fly. Fair enough.

Why do you say "especially on QF63/64", Must...Fly? It's my first time flying those routes.

Would you be so content if someone was sitting in your shadow? Good luck with shadow in premium economy. Not that you would ever need it.

Re: Qf 11

I have to fly back to the UK for family reasons in early March - not quite an emergency (or I'd be on a plane already!), but I would feel a lot happier to be there. I've done some dummy bookings on SQ for Sunday 2nd March ADL - LHR, returning on Saturday 8th March, and also for late March as an alternative option. Based on the seat maps, some of the flights have only 1 or 2 unallocated seats (luckily, there tends to be at least one Preferred Seat left, which I'll snaffle if it's still available when I book in the next day or two).

However, for the SIN - LHR flight, it refuses to let me book a seat or even see the seat-map, saying that all pre-bookable seats have gone. Does anyone know what this means (is the flight over-sold, for example??) - should I risk being stuck in a middle seat?

I'm Velocity Platinum, so does anyone have any feedback on how SQ treat them? If the flights are basically full, do I stand a good chance of an upgrade? I assume that KrisFlyers get first dibs on any op-up's, but does VFF WP rate fairly highly behind them?

Thanks

Hi all,

booked on qf127 Sydney - HKG on Sunday 23 Feb. have requested 2 x upgrade from PE to J... I'm qff gold if that makes a difference? Can anyone tell me the likelihood of an upgrade with points on this flight?

thanks so much

At J2 C2 D0 I0 U0, unfortunately, I think it is unlikely. Also note that there are some spare seats in PE and Y as well.

The seat map for J has 14 blocked, but none vacant. So might be working down the list of upgrades now.
