PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

A fair way away but light currently.

Bit far out I know but want to know if it's worth getting my hopes up.

Thanks.

Can I please request loading's for QF15 on Thursday 3rd of May for the BNE to LAX leg and QF11 LAX to JFK sale day? Looking for Y+ to J availability for SG

There seem to be quite a lot of availability on QF11 on May 3. There is even a first class award - this is a visibility with WP glasses but should be also visible as SG.

It does not seem match the QF11 LAX-JFK loading which show Business and Premium economy as completely full. Maybe lots are going to JFK.

We are now about 4 weeks off flying to New York. I do hope the upgrade fairy waves her magic wand using some of our points to move us into first class across the ditch. This is a paid for business class run to keep us both Platinum.

Friend who is PS and flying in D on QF7 SYD-DFW requested F via points 36hr before checkin with my strong encouragement when loadings were:

QF 7 SYD 12:35 → DFW 13:00
F4 A4 J9 C9 D9 I9 W4 R1 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9

Got his upgrade into Row 3 upon checkin

Then he was underwhelmed by F (having not flown QF F before) which is a fair point.

Asking again with my flight a few days out, but I suspect it isn't promising for me...

Odds of an upgrade, Y to J for a WP on 2nd May QF9 PER to LHR.

Can you switch to Premium Economy Daver6?

I didn't bother with an upgrade request to Y+. Not worth the points for me over Y. Not fussed by the better food and drink in Y+ and I'm still not in a flat bed for sleeping (which is what I'm after). I'll sleep just as well (or poorly) in Y as I would in Y+.

The loadings suggest J and W are full. However the seat maps suggest that a few may be available (possibly spoken for but not yet allocated to the passenger)

If you have 112500 points you could go Cathay on May 2nd in Premium Economy. There one takes 22 hours with a stop in Hong Kong.
Cattle class is a tough gig based on what our moderator Jessica Tam reported. The seats are very narrow.

Addit :
J and W are not sold anymore on 2 May QF9 PER-LHR - it’s completely full in those cabins.

Thinking laterally-
Economy fares are still in “Sale” for 2 May
One possibility is to buy 1 comfort seats in Y. Net price will not include taxes.
A return extra seat can be had for $1500 LESS taxes plus SC plus luggage allowance plus catering

That is a good thought Quickstatus but only because the seats on the 787 are so narrow in economy.

Thanks. I'll tough it out in Y. Hopefully I'll have a WP shadow.

Can't change flights. Final destination is actually TLV (LHR - TLV on BA). Work flights booked and paid for already. Non-refundable etc. I'll survive. Hopefully better luck on the return sector on 13th May.

All Y seats are too narrow but the 787 is diabolical

Thinking even more laterally..,
QF8 from DFW-SYD have a checkin special where they block off a row of 4 seats in Y for $250 because those seats are empty to ensure aircraft long haul endurance.
I wonder in QF9 has similar
Here is current Y seating

I'm the chump in 41D. Be nice of the row of 3 remains free, but I'd just be happy with the centre seat remaining empty.
