Are you on the A332? If not change to one of those flights!

Did my first J flight on the A332 PER-SYD, you will be pleased I'm sure. Unfortunately it makes the 73H J product look not so great.

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Sure am. Only staying in PER for the day, so I'm on the red eye home which I'm fairly certain is operated by the A332.

How I yearn for the taster days where you could upgrade from a saver and earn SC's at the upgraded level

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

i upgraded four return sectors all flexi fares using this promotion, two of the sectors are later in the year (aug and oct)

with these flights and Qantas flights will meet Platinum in both programs in under 6 months, the status match was a master stroke by Virgin, what have Qantas done..well nothing as far as I can see, just the same old average service on International Business at the highest price, I have to keep QFF at platinum for redemption opportunities but Virgin is now my choice for domestic and international , tyhey have lifted their game and Qantas continues to disappoint in service and share price..what a joke they have become

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Just booked a couple more Flexi trips (MEL-SYD and MEL-NTL) and upgraded them. Really liking DJ/VA at the moment. (These two trips will take me past 1000 SC's and make me a real Platinum at last.:))

Business seat available but can't upgrade.

I cant understand why there is a problem but, apparently I cant upgrade my Flex to business Melb-Perth because my onward travel to KGL is on a Skywest aircraft. Both my flights were booked through Virgin and both have DJ flight numbers (not XR) .
I understand there is no business on the last leg, Im just happy with the Melb-Perth Leg.
Only 2 weeks ago i flew Perth-Melb-LST, and LST-Syd-Perth on points upgrades without a problem (No Business service to Launceston)

Is it possible the Call Centre operator was just having a bad day and should I just try again tomorrow ?
Can upgrades be done at the Virgin Service desk ?

Any Thoughts / Advice ?

Re: Business seat available but can't upgrade.

That's unfortunate - and outside my experience. How did you go in the end?

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Just a quick one, I have upgraded a few flights, but unfortunately due to work commitments, these flights changed. Can I expect a refund on my points upgrade?

I would guess that you booked your flights as MEL-KGI. There have been previous reports that upgrades can only happen in such cases if business is available all on flights. Think of how you will earn points for MEL-KGI not MEL-PER-KGI.

They do not refund your points if you cancel the upgrade. But as I understand it, if you are simply changing flights and there is award availability on the new flights, you will be switched right across with your upgrade. The call centre people will insist that this cannot be done and that you will forfeit your upgrade but push your point and ask for a supervisor if they insist on forfeiting your upgrade.

You are Correct, is booked MEL-KGI for end of next week, it just seemed strange that i was able to upgrade PER-LST to business when the leg to Launceston isn't part of the available business class flights either.

I do hope so, Out of interest does any one know if you can upgrade a family member with your own points.

Re: Business seat available but can't upgrade.

Also confirmed today with Plat desk that promotion extended to 30 June.

Also commented that the Platinum Complimentary Upgrades and the Points Upgrades have separate availabilities, so if one isn't available try the other.
Am now 1/5 on attempts to use the Plat Comp Upgrade...

I'm 3/3, but have called to check for availability before booking, then confirming the upgrade immediately I have the PNR.
