Fly Ahead - love it

Upon an early check in at Sydney Domestic we were offered fly ahead for SYD-BNE. We had previously upgraded to Business seats for the flight online, but when the poor lass behind the Virgin Lounge counter went to allocate our seats for the earlier flight, she tried to hand over BP's for row 4 on a 737. I asked why she was moving us back to economy - she then gushed sorry, she never paid attention to the class we were flying. Oh so embarrassing, but she sorted it out and moved us to row 2. My poor husband has no idea of the seat plans for any plane, so it was sheer co-incidence that I was listening in to the conversation.

Pays to be alert.

My husband arrived at the Melbourne airport at 3pm and had a 8pm flight, no problem being moved to the 4pm flight but it did take a supervisor to click a few buttons (sector run: saver fare purchased, reward seat points upgrade).

Good to hear. It was possibly the points upgrade that caused some issue. Did he get his J meal?

I was wondering if that was the issue but he didnt ask the questions and there was only one empty J seat on the flight, which was next to him.

And yes, he got his meal. It was chicken something and what looked like turkish bread and hummus and side salad plus dessert. He said he was served first on his side (1F) and the cabin had 2 FAs.

Given today's VA enhancements, this thread may soon have a nostalgic feel to it and may aptly be renamed to "loved it".

It'll be interesting to read experiences henceforth......
