Does anyone know if this explore velocity gold option can be used to status match with another airline.
I mean will your membership card and statement denote that you are a gold member?

The card does have the wording "explore Gold" on it if that is any help, didn't try to status match it with anything.

Mine makes no mention of the word "explore". However, I doubt the matching airline would even notice that, unless specifically on the lookout.

Most matches nowadays require some sort of FF statement, so unless you already fly quite a bit of Virgin, a match won't be likely

I know it requires a copy of the statement and the card. But did`nt think there were specific requirements for flights for a status match.
I know there is for a status challenge.
I will have a few flights anyway.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get upgraded to explorer gold post card approval?

Some members on Ozbargain reported it took them 3 weeks.

BlackSultan, T's & C's of the offer said it could be up to 4 weeks from the Flybuys points hitting your account. This took 1 week for me. Currently waiting for my explore gold to come through. Fingers crossed it gets here within 3 weeks just in time for my flight to LA.

Yes it does if you pool SC's as well as points. You just need to fly the eligible sector.

My 20k flybuys points posted on the 1st August, and explorer gold came through today, so only a week and a half for me. Maybe they do them in batches once a month, hence the up to four weeks in the T&C....

If thats the case then I missed out as my points posted on the 8th. Which means mine probably won't go through right up until the 4th week.

Probably a common question, but I have 'over qualified' with 150 SC or so during the Explore Gold period; will these count towards to the 400 to retain gold or will the clock reset on my explore gold review date?

Unfortunately yes, you will have 12 months from the renewal date to reach 400. They are not lost per se, you actually saved 350 SC that were not required for the 500 necessary to reach normal gold. But, in one respect the 70 "extra" credits count for nothing.

Just got approved for the card with a 7K limit.

I already have 55 SCs and 2 eligible sectors flown.

Do I need to get another 80 SCs in the 3 months of Gold upgrade? Think I'll have 2 round trips SYD MEL over the next few months. Shouldn't be hard to add a 3rd trip in if required.

Just got approved for the card with a 7K limit.

Bit unclear what the new 7K card refers to in the context of FB/VA Explore Gold offer.

If you had 55 SC and 2~ when the ExGold started you do need to get full 80SC in the 3 month window, your 55 are wiped.

Your short sectors will only earn 5 SC if booked on the cheapest fare, so a few more may be required (unless you've booked hier fare buckets).
