Just got a survey from Flybuys……it was a full on question set about my appetite for the Flybuys program to switch from its partnership with velocity to link with Qantas. It was also posing the idea of gaining Qantas status points with flybuys…….. I will be interested in seeing where this goes

I just did the survey, I said I was Gold with both so had identical questions for both. Said that I would only prefer Qantas IF they had a much better offering than they do now with Virgin AND it is better than Everyday Rewards.

Wouldn't such a deal between Qantas and Flybuys have ramification for anything signed between Qantas and Woolworths? I just can't imagine there not being a clause with Woolworths that stops Qantas from having a deal with their main competitor.

All depends on how the long the agreement has to run. FF partners come and go. It could end up being a "half time, change sides" scenario!

Well, they did switch to BP, and Woolworths Petrol isn't BP right? So I guess they could be considering the switch.

This is huge news, I like having one supermarket earn Velocity and the other Qantas.

Id love this, Woolworths is inconvenient, i shop at coles and am sitting on a stack of useless flybuys points, which could help with points club if could go to QF instead of V and the SCs would be greatly appreciated too. I hope they move to QF.

I did the survey as well.
I was very negative about Qantas and fairly positive about Virgin. Detailed my reasons for each.
Hope it doesn’t change or I will use flybuys for cash off shopping just like I do for Woolies.

FB points are not useless. Are you aware that if you redeem FB points for a Virgin flight then that counts as a paid Virgin flight not a reward flight? That makes FB points very valuable in my book.

If you really have a stack of FlyBuys points, you can use them to book SQ business class. I can't imagine there are many people who think that is useless. I wish I had more ways to earn VA pts instead of QF.

It would be great if Flybuys operated like a flexible reward program and bought on other transfer partners like Qantas, Velocity and hotel partners (similar to membership rewards)
I am starting to think this maybe exactly what is being considered……… but it may actually be Rex that is the new additional partner Flybuys are considering and the Qantas vs Velocity questions may not be indicating a potential swap, but more about understanding the positioning of the two and where Rex might stand in the mix (I understand Rex’s frequent will launch in the next couple of months)
Rex was on the questionnaire - I just responded that I was not a flyer of theirs or planning to be…… I would be interested to hear if anyone filled in the survey as a Rex advocate to test this theory…….

and both programs have a set cash value equivalent (as a $ discount). So it’s pretty easy to work out if using pts for that flight or using your own money is the way to go on a case by case basis.

Got this survey as well. Made a point to mention that IF they were to change to QF points then they would lose a point of difference and become like any number of other partners.

Ymmv, for me i havent flown Virgin regularly for over a decade (since i last had a job where Virgin was preffered carrier for business trips to Albury and Port Macquarie). I have no status with them and as they are not part of an international alliance, im better flying with One World carriers where i have lounge access etc if travelling 9n my own dime.

The Virgin points i have are from Delta flights years ago, ive been transferring minimum FB points once a year to keep active, but have not been able to redeem for anything useful. So i have points sitting in FB unused in hope they eventually offer transfer to Qantas which is more valuable to me personally when agregated with other QFF points earners.

I shop at Woolworths maybe twice a year, as none within walking distance of where i live. I shop at Coles or IGA so would love extra QFF pointsfrom Flybuys.

In that case why not use your FB points to buy flights on QF? FB just acts as a travel agency with each FB point worth 0.5c. I don't see any reason why Qantas flights bought at FB should not count as paid QF flights.

Never had a flybuys card (have a relatives card on my phone and use that for their benefit), but this would motivate me to get one against my own QF account

As if Woolworths would standby and let that happen
Of course Fly Buys and their agents can float balloons on possible scenarios but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen
Does it suggest that Fly Buys isn’t getting what it wants out of its existing partnership with Virgin? That’s a little strange given the Velocity programme actually seems to be getting stronger these days with its alliances with international partners
