Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

Well that's it, bugger my $120 x4 spend, I wanna join the $50 x4 club.

'Hide Offer' selected. Will not use FB card till Club 50 welcomes me (or at least club70).

Finally, a 4 week offer. $50/10000. Additionally, there's a 1000 point bonus/week (4000 points) if doing online shopping. Tempting, but isnt as convenient for me, and theres a tendency to overspend (where products aren't available and you end up not reaching the spending requirement).

I've asked this question when I've been on phone to FB's.
They allow, what they told me last time, they allow of upto $30 below the target spend req'd if products are not available (not delivered for this reason) & you'll still be considered to pass ' hit target spend.

$30 may seem like a lot, but if it's a box of nappies not available, then yon could miss target as they cost upto $30.

I tend to overspend shopping in store. For online shops I use click n collect, no fees & go to buck or 2 over the req'd spend.

I got this after lots of spend $90 or $100 but still too much for me

VPS there are two easy ways to improve your offers that are open to most (at least one is).

  1. Look at the running total (if at a full service checkout) or roughly work it out as you load the items on the conveyor - and do not spend more than $51 or $52 as a single amount. Ask the operator to pay for the low $50 amount, and separately put the rest of your items through. Typically we use self-service so we are not so obviously holding people up. BTW - Coles, WW often do this as many people do their own shopping as well as for an elderly/disabled or these days Covid-19 impacted friend/family. You will not get challenged by the checkout operator for doing this. JUST make sure you remember to use your FB card(s) for the rest of the order.
  2. If you are not living alone, or have living relatives who don't bother about FB points, or points in general - then you open a completely new account complete with free QFF account (via link from FB website) in another name. Use that 2nd account for the rest of your weekly spend - that way your spending hurdles do not jump so much.
In our case - all three of our children, from very young, realised the value of points and insisted we open an account for each of them. Nearly cried when their first redemption was a 'Finding Nemo' dvd...

This week we've received an offer on all accounts (PPPPPP) for 10K points on 4 wks of $50 spend. Two also have an expiring offer today and another offer starting today for 4 days - spend $50 once & get 2K points. Needless to say (but I will) - we're off to do the Election day shop - tonight. For $200 shopping for those 2 accounts spread over 5 weekends we should get 14K points (without any further offers of $2k or X00 points on products etc), 35% return.

Better half, worked out how to get 16 'ovenware' points on a $51 shop last weekend to finally get enough for something wanted, then decided that another item looked worthwhile - spent $29 on Sunday for 14 'ovenware' points. Gamed the catalogue for products we use that were on special that gave bonus 'ovenware points'.

Just a shame the gaming didn't begin two months earlier

PS: PPPPPP = 'Proper planning prevents p... poor performance'

Just completed one a couple of weeks ago and this comes around again, whereas the other family account which had little activity got 4 x $70
A type of baiting - just like fly fishing. Try one bait/lure, see how it works. Leave it a while, try another. On another occasion try the 1st again to see if 'habits' have changed.

Purely a version of CC approach to convert 'payers' to 'revolvers' - keep offering credit limit increases to 'payers' typically some weeks before have increased their spending regularly in prior years (approaching Xmas, school holidays whatever).

Keep increasing credit limit until people can no longer pay off their full CC balance each billing period.

Never let consumers have an even break.

Very worthwhile mentioning this to people, in passing, along the lines of 'The credit card industry are so predatory, you probably already know, about how they keep offering to increase credit limits until it gets to a point that you can't fully pay off each month'...

You can choose 'click & collect' if that works more easily.

If we got that offer then we'd go the route of placing the order on Wednesday (to get latest week's specials) and fill it with dry/general goods etc from laundry etc as well as items like toothpaste etc. Very rare, if order placed on a Wednesday that the specials have already gone.

We don't like missing out on the specials (while you could no longer ask for rainchecks through much of the serious Covid period) - now that rainchecks are back...

Not that we've done this (much).

I got a $50 x 4 weeks for 10,000 points on my main Flybuy account. Barely using that card for 5 weeks worked out :)
Just go a $60 for 2,000 points for Saturday to Tuesday so can stack with above on being only $10 extra spending.

Wife received offer again of spend $90 for 3600 bonus points.

That's a good offer but a stretch for me as wife and daughter overseas until October.

And they've finally reduced my offers to $80 for 2000 bonus points. I just spend a few $$ each week until it comes down to $50 again.

Got 1,200pts for $30 spend at Coles on 2 different accounts. Split my $60 shop into 2 payments yesterday. Easy.

A lettuce, some broccoli, a capsicum and couple of lamb cutlets ought to see you over line.

I see what you did there.

From memory there's photos from WWII with people wheeling a wheelbarrow full of money to buy a loaf of bread.

The Dutch Hunger Winter where people dropped dead in the street for lack of food. Others were eating tulip bulbs.
