Thanks Kea :). It's the fuel offer that was selectively sent out yesterday. My flybuys account did not receive the offer, however, another account that I opened recently for a family member did receive it. Their account was rarely used.

500 BONUS POINTS when you purchase 30 litres or more of fuel in one transaction

Quite a useless offer for me as I filled up yesterday and Melbourne is near the end of the fuel cycle.

Thanks idjces. Glad the offers are out there !!! Well done

Got an offer around 6 weeks ago to purchase Coles Life Insurance, hold it for 30 days to get 10,000 points. I've had it for 32 days and the points have already come through... * will now cancel policy*... I only spent $8.82 :D (even less if I get a rebate back)

Just called and canceled my policy, surprisingly easy.
I received 10,000 points + 374 points + 449 points (10823 = $54.11), and all up it cost me $8.82, profit of $45.29, very happy with that offer! :D

I got my $100 worth of free groceries today at Coles. I only got a couple of points for the transaction but the free groceries made everything worthwhile. I got a couple of treats for the family but most of the $100 was things I would have bought anyway but maybe not quite yet.

Nice! I'm away this weekend, looking forward getting home on Monday and spending my $50 worth then hopping over to Woolworths to do $30 worth to contribute towards EDR's offer of 4x$30 for $50 return.

Yes, I must remember to keep track of the EDR offer in amongst all the flybuys offers that will probably roll in next week. My partner got the same EDR offer as you so we should be able to use it easily.

I ended up spending $116/$16 yesterday for my $100 off. A few extras, but mostly staples and things I could freeze down. I don't think I will be shopping for a few weeks.

It was fun to watch the check out operator's reaction when the price dropped after swiping my FlyBuys card.

Flybuys appear to be experimenting with week long offers.

I got spend $60 for 500 points valid from Monday to Sunday. I haven't decided whether to take it up yet. I'll see what turns up later in the week.

Used my $100 on the weekend, as well as a $5 tell coles voucher.

The last $40 or so was a bit of a stretch but luckily the missus remembered some feminine stuff that she was low on stock on.

Total was $108, less $105 in discounts = $3 on the platinum edge.

Been an interesting 5 weeks and has certainly made grocery shopping more fun.

Well done, I'd been contemplating using the Tell Coles voucher in my transaction but didn't know whether the two offers would stack.

It was a bit of a gamble, but at worst we'd just be $5 worse off.

Felt brilliant to watch the total go from $108 to $3 though, we did it at the self checkout, I'd imagine the checkout clerk would have been shocked and thought we were cheating something.

I've been coming to the conclusion that this was the whole point of the offer. Something I saw on TV recently referred to companies trying to 'gamify' shopping/consuming, and this is definitely a case of that! I was walking around Coles with an app open to total my purchases so I'd get to $50 without going far over. A dastardly effective strategy on Coles' part!

Same! the missus walked around with her calculator app opened on her phone totalling things as we went.
Agree that making consumption feel like a game is effective, it's how all sorts of rewards and point schemes work. It's mostly irrational but golly it can be addictive :|

The strategy in this case was certainly effective in pulling me into coles each week for a month, but I wonder if there's any long term benefit for them? It's not like i'll suddenly do all my shopping at coles from here on out, i'll just continue doing what i've always done, that is just shop wherever has the best deals.

Absolutely. First time in living memory I have shopped at Coles for 4 weeks at a stretch. It certainly won't happen again unless a similar carrot is dangled. I am as loyal to Coles as they are to me - not loyal at all!
