Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

I shop on price plus convenience and any extra perks like points. I am shopping more at Coles these days because they are better at using the data they have on my shopping habits to send me emails indicating when things I have previously purchased are on special. So I save money and they get more of my business.

Same! the missus walked around with her calculator app opened on her phone totalling things as we went.
Agree that making consumption feel like a game is effective, it's how all sorts of rewards and point schemes work. It's mostly irrational but golly it can be addictive :|

The strategy in this case was certainly effective in pulling me into coles each week for a month, but I wonder if there's any long term benefit for them? It's not like i'll suddenly do all my shopping at coles from here on out, i'll just continue doing what i've always done, that is just shop wherever has the best deals.
I try to do it in my head instead of using a calculator. I find I am pretty close to the actual total. 'One time' I was short about 40c so picked up a Freddo at the checkout to get over, and then gave it to the checkout operator. If I can't add up, why should I get the treat!

Thats cute! lol! Freddo lady! I reckon the same, add up in your head. Enjoy the perks and have a fun time shopping for what you'd normally, mundanely shop for anyway. Bring on the points and free spends! YAY - all winners!

I usually carry a calculator around but also work out most of the totals ahead of time where possible.

I gave up with the $100 spend. I got to about $80 and winged it from there. As it turned out, two of the items were at a higher price than expected due to bad signage. I spent a couple of dollars extra and ended up leaving some stock items at the checkout. I'll be able to go back for them next week if I decide to take up any offers. I may end up getting some of the money back due to the bad signage issue.

10,000 Bonus points for life insurance...

Just did a quote:

$4.43 per month (stepped)
$7.60 per month (level).

Only need to keep it for 30 days to get points.

I do the calculations in my head and am usually close. At Coles I always have a few of the tuna 90c Coles cans in my trolley as the elder SydneySwan junior devours these. I use them as my balancing item to get over whatever the spend target is and scan them last so that as soon as I hit the target I leave the remainder at the checkout. This way I only ever go a maximum of 89c over the target.

Wont they just take the points back off you if you cancel though?

I got the same offer 2 months ago, I cancelled only last week; points were credited 32 days after policy opening date :D

Just finished my bonus shopping, very much liked watching the total drop down like credits on a pokie machine increasing :p

That's a good docket deal. I was hoping to be able to use a docket like that as well on my shop but none of my trigger shops earlier in the week had any good docket deals on it. I got some docket deals for products I'm not going to buy but couldn't get a general offer.

It is amazing what a smile can do...

If I see a big trolley load going through and no FlyBuys card in hand then I'll go behind them (if nobody there). If still no Flybuys card to be seen as last few items are rung up and they start fumbling for their CC or cash - I say "Don't forget your FlyBuys card."

Nearly 2/3 respond they don't have one so I ask if I can swipe mine....

Only 1 knock back in 15 years....
