Just found a link via OzBargain - but nothing happens when I sign in with my card, just the regular FlyBuys page

There is a unique tag in the email link that opens a java/jscript session ID on the flybuys website. When you login you're redirected to the velocityfrequentflyer website with a particular proxy ID which is I guess what tags the 'explore gold' promotion to be eligible.

Contrary to my previous insistence that I would never do it, I have just signed up for and received the 3 month "Explorer" Velocity Gold membership (can't help myself! ).

Then I purchased a full economy fare CBR-MEL-OOL-MEL-CBR for $630 (using a 10% discount promo voucher), which should earn the required 80 SC's. Not bad for 15 months of Velocity Gold, I thought.

Just got a phone call from VA Platinum today apologising for the SYD lounge for being too small and crowded before LAX flights on my recent trip. This is going to make it unbearable. Now going to book the next 3 SYD-LAX flights with anyone else but VA.
