Fog in SYD

BNE popular for diversions this morning.

Must be busy at the BNE International terminal thanks to the fog in Sydney, even have VS and BA here.

All flights to SYD this morning delayed and some cancelled due to extreme fog. Some international flights have been diverted to MEL

Diversions also to BNE , ADL & CBR . CBR got treated to a rare appearance of 747-400 with QF128 currently on the ground there.

Yeah sitting in cbr right now not going anywhere, I remember seeing a plane in the darkness over at the tower this morning and thinking it looked a bit bigger than a 737.

It looks like landings are regularly occurring in SYD ...now the scramble begins . Its going to be a busy next 2-3 hours for landings and alot of late departures in the early afternoon.

10 deep queues at the Virgin Lounge, and check-in even worse...

No chance of getting on an earlier flight.

As an ex ATC I feel more for the airline ops people dealing with the 1000s of passengers displaced or the 1000s delayed because they are at the airport and their departing plane is not!

Currently in the SYD QP, after my diversion to ADL on QF24, waiting for my new flight to. . . . . . ADL. :shock:
Was nice to see the sunrise over the airport, but sleep dragged me back under and I didn't wake until the turbulence hit us as we descended into SYD.

At least I'll get some decent time in the QP - new flight now 2:30pm departure.
