I am flying Scoot soon with my family from Changi to Aus (Disclaimer: not by choice!).
I have paid for the fare with the inclusive Scoot 'meals'.
My partner has already stated that she refuses to eat it, and if the meals turn out to be anything like Air Asia meals I will probably struggle to eat it too.

We are thinking to try to bend the 'no outside food' rule and bring a few snacks on board - in particular we need to buy some things for my two year old daughter, as she's at a stage of picky eating & we can claim there are dietary requirements.

Does anyone know if there are any western style supermarkets or minimarkets in the terminal or near Changi locality where we can pick up some fruit, small yoghurt pouches, muesli bars, ingredients for small sandwich, etc? Will airport security let you bring it in? Or is there anywhere in the airport where you can pick up those kind of small snacks for a reasonable price? I am thinking it will be easier & more discreet to get away with consuming that type of food on the plane as opposed to trying to smuggle in a hot hawker meal purchased at the terminal - that would defeat the excuse of dietary requirements, too.

Thanks in advance - apologies if this is a dreary question 🤣

Best supermarkets land side are in the Jewel Complex - there’s a Fair Price supermarket and there’s also a food section in the Marks and Spencer store.

No problems bringing food through security - but for liquids no dice, but can take an empty water bottle and fill at the water fountains at the gate.

Emphasis on "at the gate" - where final security screening occurs.

I'm a bit late here but I have flown Scoot multiple times and have never seen them enforcing any rules about outside food. Not sure they would even be allowed to under aviation regulations, besides of course the security restrictions on liquids. What are they going to do, take your food away from you? Ban you from flying them again? Their options for "enforcement" are kind of limited. If you feel you need some excuse just say it's a dietary restriction (but I highly doubt you will even be asked that).

The airport/government-contracted security agents at the gate are enforcing aviation security rules, not airline revenue rules. These agents will not care at all about airline restrictions. And the airline isn't doing any further inspection of your bags.

Thanks - no, they didn't seem to enforce the 'no outside food' rules - not that I saw.

Thanks - we ended up buying lots of supplies at our departure city before we got to SIN, and supplemented with a couple of baguettes from a cafe in T1. None of the food shops in jewel seemed to be open for our morning flight.

The water fountain after security was working, but there was a big queue - at one point, one of the snarkier Scoot staff threatened to take off without the passengers who were queuing for water. It wouldnt be a problem if the final boarding pass check was at the END of the security room, rather than the start of the security room.

p.s. we ended up getting a quick dinner from 89.7 Supper Club in Changi village - great hawker food, quick, and open very late. Pleasantly surprised.

Just a note that the 7/11's in each terminal (past the immigration checks) are open 24 hours a day (at least for T1,T2,T3 - not sure about T4 as it just reopened and has a different setup/layout). The T1/T2/T3 7/11's are located on the upper level so not necessarily easy to find, but would have definitely been open. Just adding this for future readers.

Yeah, that's a great spot (and Changi village generally). Can't go wrong.
