Four Corners tonight - "QF32"

The calibre of the pilots was as high as expected - hopefully the current industrial issues around pay do not lead many to jump ship.

Seems a little hypocritical for AJ to be lauding QF pilot skills on one hand whilst simultaneously trying to screw down their pay and conditions with the other.

I am not sure if it has been reported around these parts, but the pilots are going to be recipients of the Polaris Award (See Polaris Award - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) for their airmanship according to some recent reports (see Short haul | The Australian).

One Capt J Bartels of QF30 fame has been a previous recipient!

Re: QF32 388 - emergency landing in SIN after Engine failure

Its only a matter of time until "somebody" uploads it...:p

Shin taro.... Please thank the "someone".... Very interesting and only gotbtoo see it on YouTube as I am in Abu Dhabi..... Thanks...

I couldn't believe the flight had a Check Captain checking a trainee Check Captain who was checking the Captain!

What an amazing tech crew.

I remember reading somewhere (Australian Aviation magazine?) that there was a sixth Qantas pilot onboard travelling as a passenger!

The technical crew were on the 747 that had an issue a day or two after!

This is ABC at its best - Well researched, great production, compelling viewing.

You've got to be kidding! There was absolutely no investigative journalism. We might as well have watched a Qantas promotional video.

Im still not going to fly on an A380...
I have to in about 2 months time...
I have a row 80 window seat on one Saturday - off to LAS, the odds of me losing are better in LAS - and that's at Blackjack!

Yep, there was not much digging; in fact it was a longer version of "42 Minutes" some weeks ago.

I was fearful of a LAME factor, but that never entered into it.

I'm reading his book "QF32", released a day or two ago. I've only just finished chapter 9, and it's basically autobiographical to this point, although he's clearly filling out details in his past that will become relevant to his handling of the QF32 incident.

I'm hopeful that he'll eventually provide details and insight into the incident that haven't already been reported.
