Jyst joined - many thanks - might look at changing to epicure from the Austrralian Wine Society - haven't been impressed with them for a while.

Just joined up. Thank you to the OP!

Same here. Thanks. Lets see if I can take advantage of the 4 points per $ at my local thai restaurant lol :)

Out of curiosity, anybody try to flip the points by buying a bottle of Grange then auctioning it back for the cash while pocketing the points? Anyone brave enough to try? :-)

(Sorry, article was posted sideways like this)

Yes, it would appear to waive the first year fee, no indication if it includes a 'gift' or not, probably not??

It says on the About page:

Special join offer. For a limited time only, join epiQure by Qantas Frequent Flyer and you can toast your new membership with a choice between a complimentary bottle of exclusively blended Seppeltsfield Rare Tawny or a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Champagne#. Gift is not available for complimentary joins. It’s our welcome gift to you and a taste of things to come.

Are you likely to be able to see the Grange for more than the retail price???

The article suggests that you should be able to achieve a similar price to what you paid for it through wine auctions, except you'd be 70k points richer.

You're luckier than me, only 16 restaurants in QLD, and 4 that I could get to, though not easily ;)

I've also just joined. May I ask where on the Qantas site says Epicure members earns 4 points per dollar on the restuarants? I thought it's only 3 points per $.

Can't remember where I saw it maybe on the qf epicure section....can someone confirm?

I just went into my account and see my avatar is already set the same as here, but don't recall uploading an image, where do you think they sourced the image? I don't think there's anywhere on the Qantas site where I've uploaded this image, but surely there must be?

They are pulling the avatar from Gravatar linked with your email address. You might have signed up so long ago you forgot about it.

Ahh I thought it might have been that, but didn't see it mentioned anywhere on the account settings page, like I'd have assumed it would be. Good to know, thanks!

Haven't used Epiqure for a while now, received the membership in late 2011, as an apology for dust cloud inconvenience if I recall. My membership is now valid until November 2013, so appears I've been comped. I also notice that they seem to have dumped the "community", which is a good move.

The last thing I purchased was the Seppelt Xaviers Labyrinth shiraz which I thought was a great value quaffer. I have just ordered the Mixed Reds discovery pack and am happy with the value there too after doing a quick online price comparison.

I have to say I was so sceptical about epiqure, but got the free membership after the Joyce grounding debacle, and I have to say it has been very good. The points earn has been pretty good, and I have enjoyed trying the wines when flying then buying them through epiqure. I'd certainly pay $59 to keep my membership. (Although I think it is still comes free for me.)
