Thanks all for the responses. I clicked back to "step 1" (as the link takes one directly to step 2) to see what it was I was signing up for. No mention at all except it appeared to be the normal sign up link for Le Club.

I haven't signed up as I think I'll do it in mrs swanning_its name as I'm already Le Club gold.

This promo will not convert existing A Club/Le Club to Platinum - it must be a new sign up.

By all means sign up SWMBO but you could open a new account for yourself using a different email to the one attached to your gold membership.

C'mon OBB, surely you must realise it's as much about keeping SWMBO happy ;) :D.

A platinum happy SWMBO = a less frazzeled moi ;) (not to mention more weekends to appreciate said platinum status )

(Boy oh boy......do I have to tell you Babes all our secrets )

How do you then get the new membership number into a current booking (that already has the old number)?

Same result for me, anyone got a new link that still works?

Tried it for you and got the following:

The given promotion code is not usable anymore

Edited: The original link in an old posting was only valid till 31st May. I suggest that this newer link may be the same and has expired

Anyone know how I go about cancelling the classic card, can't find a link on their site anywhere?

I havent been able to find one either. I just let the unused account stay in accor's system

Log into your Platinum account, select contact us (use e form) and ask them to merge your old and new account. It takes about 3-5 days to have accounts merged. Note, if you have any bookings to your old account they will not be transferred to your new account (in my experience), so make sure that you take your new account number and advise at check in that your ACCOR number has changed. If you prepaid, make sure that you keep copy of the statement that shows that you have paid for the said booking in order to retrospectively claim points. This process would take another 5-7 days.
Can't say that I got anything extra as Platinum though.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go.

I have sent off the request.

The automated response was: "Thank you for your request. We will reply by e-mail within 48 hours."

Let's see what happens.

Hopefully, you'll get a bit more personalised email confirming that they have done it as requested. Once done, you can ask them to change the email address to the original one on the new account (I have for example used my work email to open the platinum account, and had a personal one with my classic account. Once classic account got closed, I've asked them to change my email to the personal one on my platinum account).

The email confirming the merge came through on the 9th so that seemed to work OK.

Thanks. :D
