I could net even get connected in BNE for a while when the lounge was busy. Must have been 60+ people using the laptops, phones, PDAs etc and the although good signal strength was available, it took many attempts overr about 10 mins to actually get a connection - and then of course it was very slow.
Just for info had no problems getting connected in BNE THU evening with a half full QP and the connection/dl speed was fine.

I too have struggled to get connected in the BNE QP. At first I thought it was the new card I bought, but since then it has worked in the SYD QP, KUL Golden Lounge, and outside the Maccas in BDB, and even below the BNE INT QP (there is a neat spot with tables & powerpoints!) but on several occasions in BNE DOM it finds the network, with signal strength varrying from 19%-74%, but can never connect.

I am glad I am not the only one having trouble.

Posting from a 100% strength ("Excellent") wireless connection in the SYD T3 QP :D

The new lounge has it - but that isnt open yet. I guess they didnt bother installing/allowing in this lower scummy area...

No free wireless in the SYD F lounge
On Friday evening, of the four PC's there, 2 were inoperative. Both working ones were both available when I arrived and I used one for a bit.

As the lounge filled up I transferred to the desk of one of the non-functional ones and used the (working) network cable to run directly.

I was going to give wifi a try later but after spending most of the day on PC's I felt a relax with a few Moët's was a better option. :D

Currently sat on the floor at HKG (no ounge access as dragopnair economy fligh in 30 mins) and have power and wireless - hmm wonder if that $9K ticket was worth it ;)

WTF? They obviously think you haven't paid enough for your ticket to get all of the extras!

Sounds a bit like the hotel chains. The cheap ones provide unlimited free high speed internet access, the expensive ones charge an arm and a leg for internet access.

Dubbo was transformed last year, I think the must have the aim of being the premier inland NSW airport (well it is a hub of sorts!!). There's a decent cafe, separate arrivals & departure areas, a luggage belt, desk area with power points , I even noticed a rack of books for sale. No QP course!
I can confirm what dajop wrote. Was at DBO this year and the airport was finished. I was with a group of QF FF and there was no QP so we settled for a beer at the cafe. Unfortunately QF decided that they wanted to leave early as eneryone had checked in and announced the fllight was leaving 15 minutes early! In fact the check in agent/gate agent (does both jobs) walked up and said the pilot wanted to leave right away due to congestion in SYD so would we kindly finish our full bottles of beer right now or leave them at the cafe:shock:
Oh SYD QP T1 on Sunday no free wireless, the log in page appeared.
At AKL QP Dom, I so wished I knew about it, there was no sign at the two PC by the windows.

Late last month at the PC's down the other end near the showers, white sticky tape labels (dymo?) about 5mm high and 60mm wide with the username and password information were stuck on the monitors above the display.

there's also a piece of paper explaining it

I thought I'd seen that by the window PCs as well as the back ones but I could be mistaken.

No nothing there from what I could remember. I did not check the PCs near the hallway to the toilets or showers, but as I was the only one using the computers on Sunday night it really did not matter too much.
At WLG it is good that the QP has free access as I thought it was strange that the NZ KC has it and the food court area has free wireless as well but it did not extend to the QP Dom or International.

Still can't get connected in BNE domestic! Thats 4 from 4. I must be sitting in the wrong spot. The laptop finds Telstra, but then sits there thinking about it and never connects, various signal strength ranging from 14% upto 55%. Works everywhere else.

Any clues??

This got me thinking.. ADL has the free wireless via Internode (admittedly, unless you have a Node account you can't access certain ports though). Does the QP still have free Telstra on top of that?

I had no problems at all near the northern windows and the "FT Corner" back in late April.

I had problems in MEL the other day - Telstra Wireless Screen wanted to charge my mobile!

Will no doubt make that next flight a lot more enjoyable!!!!

Have not had trouble in any of MEL QP, SYD QP, ADL QP, BNE QP, PER QP or new SYD FL in the past couple of months.

with the free qantas club access tips posted on another frequent flyer forum, combined with free internet, a day trip to the qantas pub sounds quite appealing
