Fremantle Dockers Are Coming To Melbourne

Probably no worse than chasing a little white ball around the world :!:

Many of us cannot see the attraction of that.
Not even remotely the same.

I am in Thailand next week for 2 weeks to play golf. There is no way known I will return from trip if Manly makes the NRL grand final. I still have not seen their 40-0 grand final victory a few years ago when I was in Greece. I did see them beat the Warriors a couple of years in a bar in Pattaya.

My life is a once in a lifetime event. I don't need to live my life through someone else's once in a lifetime event.

Sport is not that important to you. That's fine.

I'd hazard a guess that ballet is a passion for neither of us but plenty of people fly all over the world to watch and perform...doesn't make it wrong (or sad)!

Reports of Freo fans flying to MEL from Perth via Bali and Singapore because it's cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't follow either side, but Hawthorn will absolutely pants them on Satruday.

Unfortunately as a Storm supporter, I did see that 40-nil drubbing. Thanks for reminding me.:(
I'm doing a bucketlist item in January - seeing Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Travelling over specifically for it. Each to their own I guess.

I heard on ABC about some people who apparently booked to AKL return and simply stopped at MEL, hoping to get back on the return flight. Think they might be in for a shock...

Very much the same :!:

Which is why you are perfectly entitled to enjoy your golf and not football just as I'm perfectly entitled to enjoy football and in my case to hate golf :!:

Not important enough to drive 8 hours to an airport, cancellin pre-booked tours and accommodation and hope I get back in time to watch it live.

Definitely not that important.

Some supporters got caught in a Sydney airport delay so they are getting accommodated in Sydney instead of Melbourne tonight. Apparently there is one runway off in Sydney tonight so some flights got cancelled. There are quite a heap of Dockers supporters around Southbank in Melbourne tonight.

I was there for that 40 nil game - sans Smith :(.

JohnK was there the year before with me ...

How is it the same?

The case you mention is not the same as my example.

Yes I am a golf fanatic. I will organise golf trips overseas and enjoy myself. I will not drive 10 hours from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, to try and catch an early flight and come back to Royal Melbourne to watch someone in the playoff of an Australian Open.

There is a huge difference between the 2. Am I the only one that sees the difference?

Today it is blue sky and the fullback goal kicking breeze has dropped. Yesterday Melbourne offered the full four seasons of weather. Freo Dockers fans were gathering at eating and drinking establishments along Southbank. All good so far for us and we have two more fans coming to stay at our place which will be chockers by tonight.

What you seem to be failing to see is that the AFL Grand Final is very important to some, much like your golf trips are to you (they sound great btw, even to this 14 handicap chopper). Personally I'd love to be at the game this weekend to see the mighty Hawks kick the living cough out of Freo. You wouldn't and that's fine too.

OK I think Left Bank works - by the time game finishes and you wander back down there won't be much change out of 6pm - so might I suggest around that time at Left Bank for any AFF member who wants to have a social drink and say hello to a couple of fellow AFF members then everyone please feel free to drop in.

No formalities at all - just a social drink - be there or be somewhere else.. ...
I'll try to make it for a drink (not dinner) ...

Too many AFL jerseys and scarves in the SYD J lounge this evening! :)
Wrong island mate - AFL players would never wear one of those little yellow cows.

Guernsey - Guernsey - yelllow AND white cows - or 'jumper' - but never a 'jersey' - don't the bum sniffers wear them? :D

And the premier (Vic) dopey Denis Napthine made up a new word today, jernseys. Fair dinkum, politicians should be banned from commenting on things they know nothing about.

Or maybe restricted to talking about political stuff only, not real things like football.

Still there is an interesting bet between the respective premiers, the loser has to hand out tourism brochures for the other state wearing the winner's jumper.
