Frequent Flyer Point School

Sounds like an idea.... Maybe a good winery tour to loosen the secrets our! Curious though, how much do you need to fly/spend to reap the benefits of such a school?

Everyone is different so there are no standards or limits. Our family seem to get me to cover their flights a lot of the time so I am running in the race for frequent flyer points and it seems to be a never ending story.

Does this 'frequent flyer point school' have online access as I have a question:

I am relatively new to Australia and have just got my first ff earning credit card. I have come across a certain place that allows you to deposit money with a credit card and then withdraw this money to your bank account without charge. I have just initiated a test and it works, although I need to wait till the end of the month to check the points post. Is this normal, or have I just stumbled upon a loophole?

I have deliberately kept the details general so I do not ruin this for other's who may have already discovered this.

A number of members are trying out things on cards to check results. Last 2 days I decided to test 28 degrees card versus a Westpac Amex to see the cost difference and figure whether Westpac becomes a don't use card for international exchange.
When your test is completed in a month post your results here.

I hope not, but will keep looking and testing nonetheless.

I just left Britain as the paypal prepaid card loophole was closed - thus I took my first 100% points based flight on BA15 first class. Needless to say I won't be going back to visit relatives until I have at least enough points for a business class ticket!

Didn't you still have to pay Paypal fees, etc? The only way to get free points, is through the b*s or Amex Membership Rewards promo stuff ups.

Since this no longer works I suppose there is no harm in me saying (I found out about this through FT):

The paypal prepaid card was a visa card that you topped up through your paypal account. This meant you could top up the prepaid card with a credit card (the trick only worked with AMEX) and then use the prepaid card to pay off your credit card. There were no fees for this because of a quirk with AMEX's systems. Although it wasn't unlimited as the prepaid card did have a 2000 pound limit per month which equated to 3000 points per month, or in my case 15,000 per month because I did the same trick for my family. I managed to do this for around 16 months before paypal cancelled the visa prepaid card. They are in the process of rolling out a new prepaid master card, but I've been told that it doesn't work anymore.

Now that I am over this side of the world I am eager to find similar loopholes, any pointers appreciated!

OK - so let's be clear about this. The school will be held at a secret location (probably in a capital city - most likely Sydney or Melbourne - don't worry about the rest of us) where there will be a lot of drink to loosen up the tongues, and with only a very select few invited / in the know.

I *was* going to post about a J international flight between desirable ports at a good time of the year that I've found with full Qantas SC and points earnings. However, given the exclusive (excluding?) nature of some people in this group, I am very reluctant to post it otherwise it will disappear. Shall just go ahead and book for myself.

Actually, I think the 'school' is a bit of an abstract concept at the moment. More along the lines of a 'is this a good idea'.
