I am extended as well. I am ready to travel overseas now.
Mine has just been extended * until February 2023:
* Status Extension
Status membership extension until 28 February 2023 offer is available only to Velocity Frequent Flyer Platinum and Gold members whose Status has been previously extended until 30 September 2022 as part of the 2020 Status Rewards Program. The 2020 Status Rewards Program required eligible Platinum and Gold members to book a Virgin Australia marketed flight by 28 March 2021 for travel from 7 December 2020 (including Reward Seat bookings). Codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines were not eligible for this offer. You must have added your Velocity number to your booking to have received this extension.

Can gift Companion Gold/Platimum if you earn enough which is nice. In the past I’ve gifted to my son and fatherAh you’re correct. Good for moving up the ladder. I’m already Platinum so no real benefit. It’s odd that the marketing department wouldn’t try and encourage more bookings by allowing a rollover.
I've got a query and I have NOT received any emails from VA so far re status extensions till 2023
I recently became VA Gold via the Discover Gold program. My review date is 11 June 2022. I did book and travel well before the 28 Mar 2021 date.
So will me Gold be extended till 2023?
Eligible Platinum, Gold and Silver Velocity Members with a current review date between 30 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (inclusive) will have their Status extended for an additional 8 months upon their next review date.
Bugger. My review date is 1 September 2022 so I guess I miss out? They've only talked about dates up to April 2022.
If VA aren’t going to survive 2021 as you have predicted does it really matter what date the status extension ends?.
I guess 900 million American Hotel and Airline plan members must all be wrong.
Anyway the obvious FACT Virgin has chosen a common Feb 28 to extend date, no matter what your Velocity Anniversary, points in that direction.
Thank Goodness a common sense system appears to be underway. Yawn away.
who cares what you are posting from emails in 2016/17/18.
Try using accepted conventions if you are reposting from a cut and pasteTake the flights in 2016, and your Status was then confirmed, and good for all 2017, and indeed until end Jan 2018 etc. The extra month was always just a courtesy.
Get the flights done in EARLY year, and you then had all 2016, all 2017 and a month of 2018 as that Elite level. Go up a status level in any calendar year and nothing changes except the colour of your card.

If you put half as much effort in to marking a date on a calendar as your anniversary date as you do bolding selected words in your posts, there would be no problem....I posted no emails from 2016/17/18. Your reading skills are sadly lacking.
I was simply pointing out for the benefit of the many who have only experienced the kooky Velocity Status periods shuffle, that for 40 or 50 years all US plans have been CALENDAR YEAR, and how it works,
Looks like Virgin have now finally fallen in line, whether you like it or not.
A simple to follow system for everyone. And clearly it works well and efficiently.
The post immediately above mine proves this loopy "review date" system of part year shuffles confuses many.
Make it a year for all and all can follow it. Hilton just sent me an email to say my Diamond Status is good for an extra year. And I bet the identical email went to ALL Hilton members - and will read word perfect to yours. Not 365 different emails.
There are almost no circumstances where VA's system of rolling review works out worse for a customer than a fixed annual period, but it is not unusual for VA's system to work out much better for the customer. You say VA's system "confuses many", but I'm not sure what you base that on. IMHO, it's very simple, and almost always advantageous for members.I posted no emails from 2016/17/18.
