Just received.

As we look towards more borders opening, we are excited to let you know we have further extended your Platinum Status membership until 28 February 2023*.

This means that even if you haven't flown recently you'll continue to enjoy your Platinum benefits including complimentary upgrades and Fly Ahead~.

Your current Status extension will continue to show in your My Velocity account and Velocity App with a review date of 31 March 2022. On 1 March 2022, we’ll apply another 12 month extension to your account so that your new review date will be 28 February 2023.

There’s no need to do anything and we’ll let you know by email once this has been done.

I just received the same email. Not that I'm game enough to book anything

They are also offering bonus status credits on reward seats and bookings up to March 2022. What is the point if the status credits don’t rollover into the extended membership year. Am I missing something?

Me too with my platinum status! Very happy with this.

Interesting....my Plat status was only extended by 8 months not 12 months like others. "kpc, your Status will be extended. As we look towards more borders opening, we are excited to let you know that we will extend your Platinum Status membership for an additional 8 months upon your review date 31 October 2021*."

Looks like yours was not extended * previously:
* Status Extension
Status membership extension until 28 February 2023 offer is available only to Velocity Frequent Flyer Platinum and Gold members whose Status has been previously extended until 30 September 2022 as part of the 2020 Status Rewards Program. The 2020 Status Rewards Program required eligible Platinum and Gold members to book a Virgin Australia marketed flight by 28 March 2021 for travel from 7 December 2020 (including Reward Seat bookings). Codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines were not eligible for this offer. You must have added your Velocity number to your booking to have received this extension.

So, a further 5 months extension for those already extended to 30th September 2022 (5 Months after 31st March, not 11 months).

I have several 2 x SC bookings for travel before end of February - I need to look at moving them.

Good if you’re not Platinum because you can still go up to the next status level.
Ah you’re correct. Good for moving up the ladder. I’m already Platinum so no real benefit. It’s odd that the marketing department wouldn’t try and encourage more bookings by allowing a rollover.

Thanks guys. It's not clear to me whether those of us who came across via Discover Gold are included in this.

We haven't had an existing status previously extended so it looks like we miss out. :(

In which case we'll end up limping back to Qantas ...

Another one to not worry about until we have some more clarity on borders etc!

The bonus SCs and reward flights giving SCs will be useful for some to get a leg up on status.

Hopefully QF will extend their Status Keeper 2.0 by a couple more months for those of us stuck at home and missed the latest cutoff!

My Plat status was up for review on 28 Feb 2022, but got an email this morning saying they would extend it for 8 months, which is the end of October 2022. Seems a peculiar extension length that doesn't align with anything else they've done previously?

Yeah, I thought the same thing but they’re also offering bonus SCs on revenue and award flights - so maybe they figure we can requal in less time?

28 Feb 2023 for me too. Geeze, in May 21 I flew a SYD-MEL just for the extension, and they are the only flights I've taken since March 2020 for the last-minute cancelled AUSGP. Crazy. Golden triangle days for me are over anyway, so I'm on the status decline now and will be hoping for soft landings for a while.

And with family pooling if available...

Extended here also. Have not used Virgin much since mid 2018 which saw me drop to Gold then continual extensions.
