Future of QF27/28 travel post covid

I thought LATAM were leaving One World and as such there was a sunset on points and SCs on the horizon, if I'm wrong that is great.

My main gripe with the LATAM flights when they were part of One World was the stop-over in NZ, the QF flights were direct.
It is my understanding that if you book the LATAM flight numbers you will only get points.
The QF code share flight numbers will earn as a normal QF flight if your QFF numbers is entered.
May you continue profitable wandering

As long as it's still got a QF on the flight number (which is what codeshare refers to) you still get points & SCs.

If it's on an LA code then you just get the points.

QF/LA have said they are maintaining their partnership outside of oneworld and QF is still codesharing on SYD-AKL-SCL.

Yes, there are seats available in my flight on the 30/03. Same available seats as when I purchased the tickets on 20/01. Not sold out.
When you say seats available were you looking in MMB, seat selection? I did look at EF for SYD-SCL on 30/3 and QF/ LA direct or via NZ are showing showing 0 seats from SYD or xAKL.

Sorry for any confusion, what i meant was that when I go to manage my booking, I can change my seat selection. I remember that when I initially booked the flight there weren't many seats left, maybe 15, can't recall exactly, and the same (similar?) amount of seats are left now and I can actually swap seats. I tried it and I changed it (a few weeks ago) and it still allows me to do changes to my flight...like seats, meals, etc. If flights were zeroed out on the 28th Jan or thereabouts and I booked on the 20th, it seems that when the flights disappeared from Qantas' website, there were seats left, so my guess is that unlike what Qantas' customer service or Flight centre's agents say, flights do not appear to be sold out. They just won't tell you (because they can't or don't know as someone pointed out above) what is going on.

It is hard to believe that Qantas is doing this to people, Latam is been selling flights only to cancel them a few weeks later according to the people affected. And if you look for flights is none for a few months, It appears that they need a flow of cash and that is the way to operate. I've chosen Qantas thinking that is a trustworthy airline but at the moment, it seems they are doing the same.
Not knowing if we are going or not it's so frustrating, already stuck with the travel insurance as well...I needed to get it earlier for visa purposes and already paid for the visa as well.
This would be an excellent topic for Current affairs, perhaps they could get us an answer...?

Not much more to add, like you and I have said, I wouldn't have thought Qantas would do this. I knew a cancellation was in the cards due to the pandemic and the fact that the flight was subject to govt approval at the time of booking, however i didn't expect this complete lack of information and dishonesty from a company with Qantas' reputation. When the flights disappeared from the website, I expected an email with a cancellation or options, but now I am 26 days away from the date of my trip and I have not had any news.
Latam are not trustworthy, I have heard of too many people who have had their flights cancelled and have not received a refund or information yet. Worse than Qantas.
I honestly don't know what we can do. Not many people seem to be saying much about this, although they've clearly been affected, like you and I. Perhaps they haven't noticed that the flights disappeared from Qantas' website or they attribute their particular dates disappearing as the flight being sold out, although this is clearly not the case.

I am sure that not many people are actually checking, probably they are happily getting ready. I am so disappointed with Qantas...when I bought my ticket, on the 10th of February.., I used the credit that I had from the previous cancellation when Covid started. And I actually have to wait 24 hours for Qantas to "approve" the credit...don't tell me that they didn't know then that these flights were not going to happen...still they happily took my money...this time the ticket cost me double..
So now, like you, I don't know what to do..Latam is another disgrace and going around the world is not an option for me...Horrible experience.

Interesting to know that they sold you the flights on Feb 10th! Qantas removed them from their website on Jan 28th! I purchased mine 20.01.22 and there were lots of dates and options for my selected date and beyond. Even business at a reasonable price. Now i realise it was a scheme to get your cash.
Latam's website says they sell tickets to Argentina and state 17.04 as the date, however when you go and try to book it, it says no flights are available on that date! Not that I would book it, but just to see what's out there.
People are probably not checking, but our trips are coming up and it's just ridiculous. Perhaps we should ring them today at least so they have it in file that we realise? I guess they don't care given the volume of complaints I see and they do nothing about? Or tell them on their Facebook page we'll go to a current affairs or the Courier Mail of they don't give us info? I just think that with everything going on (floods, wars, pandemic) no one will care much

It also doesn't give you a lot of trust in your return flight, what's to say they change things on your way back? My ticket is fully flexi, I keep waiting and waiting and I don't want to cancel cos it'll be worse

ohh sorry, made a mistake that's the day I bought the travel insurance...I bought the ticket same day as you 20.1.22...I was going to make an inquiry on the Facebook page, but probably they don't know what's going on internally..I may do it anyway..

Yeah, I've done that in one of their posts and nothing. Lots of noise would need to be made around this to work, I think. Let me know if you hear anything. I'll try and see if I contact them again at least to annoy them next week if I don't hear anything.

I read on their Facebook page, they already cancelled the trip for someone 2 week before the flight...no explanation

Our same flight? I was under the impression the qf27 flights were meant to start somewhere around the 27th of March?

Yes...This was posted a week ago...(hope I won't get in trouble for copying and pasting this)

Thanks, can't really see the Facebook post but appreciate you posting it here 🙂.
I am so angry...and a dog with a bone. I won't let this go. I had a look at reddit, and have placed a complaint to the ACC. I know we haven't been cancelled (yet) but what Qantas is doing is wrong and can't be legal, although they probably use some legal loophole, but it's terrible.
Here's some of the advice from people who asked for refunds and struggled to get it:

Some of the text copied below:

Hi all, just want to update you. I have finally got my refund. I was on hold for about 4 hours - could think of better ways to spend my saturday night. Overall, this has been really stressful and I want to emphasise this is absolutely disgusting, intentional behaviour from Qantas - I hope others on this thread are able to get their refund. I just want to summarise the tips that people have offered.

Ring up really early in the morning (before 6am)

Submit a complaint to ACCC (Report a consumer issue)

Share this thread or create your own thread outlining your experience with Qantas on here (this is the most upvoted post I've ever made and I think if we got a few more of these, the media may pick it up)

WOW...thanks for sharing this. I guess we have to wait until we receive the letter of cancellation, but at least it's a hope that we can get our money back. I was never told by them that I could get a refund, they had my money for 2 years already, and now it's almost double the amount...I am so upset about this. I already paid for insurance and the cooling off period expired, so this is another problem. Took me ages to get a Visa, paid for it as well....

It's disgusting and I feel your pain. Slightly different situations and every fare has different rules. As I mentioned earlier, mine is fully flexible and I can ask for my money back, as that's the fare rule BUT I don't trust Qantas anymore and feel that they will make it really hard to give me my money back. Let's keep each other updated. As soon as I know anything I'll post it here for your or anyone's information. Sometimes you feel very alone when dealing with these matters and it's good to learn from others' experiences.

Thank you...and...I posted on Qantas Facebook page , asking for answers after explaining my situation and asking why they happily take money from so many people knowing that they will cancel they flights and their dreams of seeing family and friends. ..and what are they waiting for before telling us...In the end I said "it almost seems as scam" An obviously they took my post off together with the ones that I showed you before where someone is saying that her flight to Chile were already cancelled. This is really awful ...
