But journalists like keeping on trotting out how the WHO praises China for it's efforts. They ignore the fact that it's head is a charlatan and as I posted very early on was the Minister in Ethiopia who authorised large loans from China that they can't pay back.He has had to bend over backwards to please them.

So if you are going to point out that what he says about Trump is iffy (and I agree ) then for balance it should be pointed out that what he says about China is even iffier-if that indeed is a word.:)

I thought I read yesterday Sth Africa going into 21 day lock down
Just had a reply from my brother. Yes they have just entered a 21 day lockdown which is being strictly enforced by the army and police. You can leave to buy food and medicine, but apart from that not even a daily walk for exercise.

Apparently this is being accepted well and has increased Ramaphosa’s standing (which is a good thing, as he was trying to overcome all the problems caused by Zuma). Biggest problem is the lack of money to help alleviate economic issues.

South Africa has the best chance of fighting this and a few others Botswana, Rwanda spring to mind.

Just read grog shops are not classed as essential service .... can you imagine the horror.

Agree totally about their (WHO) reaction to China, my doctor the other day said China cost the rest of the world at least 2 months, if not more by silencing doctors and journalists, just another example of why I don't trust anything that the PRC is saying.

"iffier" has to be a proper word!

I wish (a good chunk of ) men in their sixties and seventies would read that. Of all the times where people have not conformed to the distance rule and needed reminding, it's been this demographic. It's like some are still in this information vacuum.

The really sad thing (as well as infuriating) is that eight doctors working at that hospital who tried to warn are all now dead.

....Lately one coughhead insurance company decided to block front line health workers, people with asthma, existing lung conditions, and blah blah. Hopefully AMAor someone will launch a class action, and included deceased victims. If I were on a jury, I see their actions foreseeably responsible for harm and premature death. I hope this ends up costing them more than what they hope to save....
Is this life insurance? This has always been based on the probability of dying with a % for the insurer. Sadly, the odds of a frontline healthcare worker or someone with lung disease dying at the moment is so much higher than usual that premiums would be astronomical (and likely incalculable)
If it's private health insurance that is just dumb as it's irrelevant in the allocation of ICU beds

Damn Corona virus - now I wont be able to walk the new BNE runway !!

"It is with great sadness Brisbane Airport has made the difficult decision to cancel the celebratory community events planned for the opening of Brisbane’s new runway later this year.
This decision to cancel the Community Open Day and Runway Fun Run planned for June, has been made due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and public health directives from Government regarding public gathering restrictions."

And anyone else loving when this happens?

And as a secondary commentary.... "as they crank up their factories"....

Says who? China took the decision to stop essentially any new reporting of COVID-19 cases from 1st March. hence the sudden change from exponential increases to zero. By doing so they can now claim that most new cases are imports. An obscene posture given that they were the source...

I think it's reasonably clear that you have no idea whatsoever what is happening in China.

When I was at the supermarket, it's always the old men and ladies kept walking too close to me when I was standing still and there was plenty of room around.

Do You ?

if so you could be charitable and share :)

Last night we figured out how to set up a video conference on WhatsApp with some of our friends and also cast the phone image to the big TV screen.

Tonight 6 of us are going to have a dinner party together on WhatsApp. Dressing nicely and preparing nice meals table settings etc. The appointment time has been set for all to be ready just like if we were congregating at the same premise.

We are not going to let a pandemic to miss out on a dinner together.

Bonus: there is no worrying about who likes to eat what and no drink driving problems.

News just came out that Victoria has the biggest daily increase of 111 cases, however, it's also been revealed 90+% are from people returning overseas or had contact with people overseas. So is it a little alarmist to have headlines like this when the returnees are already subject to quarantined and are not out in the open to transmit the virus to others?

Also, I rarely hear about the recovery, probably only once a week. Isn't that an important statistic too?
