Honestly - the idiots on cruise critic are so lacking awareness it doesn't surprise me. They don't seem to even be aware of what is happening in NY unless they live there. Asking stupid questions as to how likely a May - June cruise is likely to go ahead. It's disappointing to see the proliferation of so many articles and 'news' commentary against social distancing. Most seem to seize on just the smallest thing - like the 'ban' on couples seeing each other in Victoria (quickly reversed, although I don't know why) - as a reason to argue the whole thing is a sham.
Do they not see the news in Italy, Spain, Europe, Uk, USA?
No. This is not the typical flu we can all get vaccinated against. 1000 people dying a day in those countries.
Judging by the comments left with many articles, it seems like a fair proportion of the public agree that we should all just carry on life as normal. Because like, two months of not going to a rave, or a bar, is worth dying for.
Quite pathetic. But I'm not seeing them (thank goodness). Are the articles facebook, twitter (which I'm not on), or Australia news outlets? I'm not after links , just curious.
It seems to be all over the place now, news.com(.au) being an example, and Joe Hildebrand leading the cause on that particular site. Be he's also on Studio10, so expect the same there. The comments are 99% in support of Joe's position.

"Of course, I completely understand and support the need to manage the rise in coronavirus cases to stop the hospital system from being overrun. If that should happen, we will go from the unhappy tally of inevitable deaths to the more tragic count of avoidable ones.
And like most people I am abiding by the social restrictions and putting my faith in both levels of government acting on the sum of expert advice."
And exactly what was he seriously concerned with other than the decision by the Premier I referred to? Doesn't seem like you have read the piece. It's a common technique - to sandwich the true purpose among something more palatable. I don't think anyone is seriously concerned that temporary measures to stop the spread of a virus are the beginning of the end of a democratic society.
And Happy Birthday @Flashback - I could do with some chocolate cake today. I enjoy baking but it's hard when you're by yourself as you have to eat it all and I don't need cake at the moment.

I vote for a 50% "Corona tax" on anything coming out of China for the next few years.... I am not an expert in these things, and I acknowledge that China has allowed us all to live with myriad trinkets at bare bones cost. But I want a change to the status quo.
Yeah, good luck with that. Some Brit think tank - whatever that is, wants to sue for 6.5 trillion.
