Another covid home test passed by the FDA.

Although steroi_s are useful in treatment it appears some do better than others.A high ferritin level which is a marker for inflammation as well as iron overload.

This influential advisory group in the UK promoted using fear as a tool against Covid19

Now they are expressing regret because what they were promoting was essentially unethical

That is never a way to persuade a community. In my estimation bordering on criminal. Shame on them yes but they should all resign their posts.

Fear has been a hallmark of much of the most dominant commentary in this pandemic. The history of pandemics is replete with fear. It appears that we have not learnt anything especially when we have the tool of science.

I thought it was interesting to note how few cases of Influenza have been detected in NSW this year, a plus side to limited movement

Would the “average“ person have these high ferritin levels mentioned or are most people in the mid-range?

The commonest cause of a high ferritin level is inflammation. It is known as an acute inflammatory marker.
Of more concern to me a high ferritin is also a marker of iron overload. The iron levels particularly ferritin saturation will also be high unlike with an inflammatory response when those might be on the low side.

I normally would have had my flu shot already, but so far, no sign of it coming yet in the UK. That includes my wife also who is in one of the risk groups. Latent impact from the push on CV vaccination programs?

To be said in a high official of the IOC voice.
"And the winner is Melborn."

An intranasal drug that can reduce the chance of severe infection.

And a low cost old antidepressant fluvoxamine found to be very effective in reducing the incidence of severe covid.

30 tablets for an off label condition should only cost $30. I wonder whether the Invermectin crowd will hop on board?

Solution for those churlish Health workers in Qld and SA who refuse to get the jab. I say have them de-registered, then have payroll call the bank and tell them the employee has been suspended without pay. Actions have consequences. If they want to be re-registered, they will loose seniority, or will have to re-apply.

If I was the bank home loans dept, I would not be approving any new loans, and ask for vaccination status. Happy Christmas.

In Tasmania those HCW who had not been vaxxed by 31/10 were suspended without pay.I believe some of those on contracts were terminated.

I heard this morning that not one Doctor had refused to be vaccinated. Somehow others less trained in medical science know more. However, while the media have highlighted that it includes nurses, (and of course there is a prominent AFLW player refusing to be vaccinated so no footy for her either) because that suits their agenda it also includes anyone who works in the hospitals so people like cleaners etc are involved in this decision.

If an organisation did that, both they and the employees who shared the information would be breaking the law unless the employee specifically authorised the employer to release that information. When confirmation of employment is sought for loan approval purposes it is usually a specific one off authorisation, any subsequent release of information is not permitted.

If a person can no longer service a loan then it is their responsibility to advise the lending institution and negotiate a way ahead. Not their former employer.

For people who are declining the vaccination, while I disagree with them, they know the consequences of losing their job and potentially their livelihood.

Punitive actions will not resolve these matters or assist in creating a cohesive and productive workplace for those remaining, and would form a part of the workplace attractiveness in suitable applicants in the future.

Last week SA announced that with 90% vacc rate of people over 12, opening the borders but maintaining current restrictions, (masks indoors, spacing etc etc, no dancing) then our expected death rate would be 13 over 300 days. Many said that while any death is a sad death then we must expect deaths to follow and 13 deaths in a month from road accidents can occur here. Yesterday there is no mention of 13 deaths, but that's now bumped up to 53. I cannot help but feel that SA Health felt that they needed to amp up the data for more scare mongering. No community spread since July but we have to wear masks all the time because, well, of fear.

There’s definitely some Doctors involved. At least in Tasmania.

This Surgeon looks like he’s in an age group that wouldn’t go too well if he got Covid.
He should get the vaccine and protect himself and his patients or shuffle off to retirement.

There was also an 84yr old GP who came out of retirement in NSW Central Coast and made a living out of giving medical exemptions for vaccination (more than 300) before authorities caught up with him.

I don’t agree - it is not about knowing more or less.
The whole idea of informed and voluntary consent has been upended by this pandemic.

The patient has individual sovereignty especially in matters of healthcare. It is the patient’s right to agree to or refuse medical care under any circumstances. The patient’s non consent can be in spite of the best medical advice. A patient’s decision to refuse sound medical advice should always be respected and should never cause the Dr to demean the patient or to refuse the patient further treatment.

The patient may not know more and the reasons why they wish to go against medical advice may be erroneous - but that is not the point…

It seems there are twists and turns in the various vaccine stories.
Vaccine developer to be sacked
In other places it was noted that attempts to get phase 2 and 3 trials in Australia were "turned down"
Ask your member of parliament why Australian developed products have such difficulty in getting approved for use in Australia.....

Or is that wandering

Tread carefully or lawyers will push the natural justice angle. Someone on a trial vaccine is worthy of an exception or a special waiver after full consideration, not some preconceived notion. They guy has presented a valid argument, and narrow black letter law interpretations follow. Mixed booster avaliability and timelines were decided on flimsier data. Maybe the solution is to TGA or ATAGI to add the words 'or trial vaccine' somewhere.

I believe that those who took part in the Australian Novavax trial have been accepted as vaccinated though all would definitely need a booster as the trial ended at least a year ago.

The delta variant now has many delta plus variants. At least 28 as of August this year.

But despite this there is no evidence that they cause worse disease.

Despite the worries of a new super variant appearing scientists are confident that it will not ultimately win as antibodies occurring after infection continue to also evolve for months after the infection.
