More confbi rooflyer….. reading something different to the common english meaning of what I write ?
Victoria successfully locked down as a necessary short term measure.
What the good doctor proposes is minimal social and business restrictions and some kind of utopian ppi regime where everyone cruises around in a fog of rampant infection but remains uninfected by wearing a mask, washing hands and keeping social distance…..

But of course we know wearing a mask generally helps you to stop spreading rather than contracting the virus....

Sorry but I would prefer the rights I preserve under the Taiwan system rather than the Victorian system.

The underlined has no literal meaning to me.. other brilliant intellects may disagree...

Besides those Victorian restrictions were sold to an awful lot of ordinary citizens.

More confirmation Bias … you can probably take something for that..
The vic restrictions were a temp lockdown.. not a rest of pandemic whole of society commitment.

Indeed and in a place where the virus is active, a positive thing to do.
Most of au has such a low risk profile that there is little incentive to wear a mask.. of course that may be about to change.

Ah… thank you RooFlyer , I will cease and desist abbreviations obvious to even the most intellectually challenged readers.
I am sure you can manage to do the same, I will even make a note to remind you in the future if you forget...

I have never understood this. Why?

I think it mainly is to do with droplet size.

When you exhale or sneeze the virus is attached to a droplet of moisture or mucus.

Initially these are larger and the mask will tend to trap them, including poorer quality or more crudely made masks.

Once exhaled the droplets start to evaporate and get smaller.

Heavier droplets and mucus will tend to be caught inside the mask. Those they escape including from poorly fitting masks descend quickly to the ground.

Smaller droplets will continue to get smaller as they evaporate.

The droplets left that someone else may inhale will tend to be small and will more easily pass through a mask.

So for the spreader, the mask will trap a lot of virus exhaled, coughed or sneezed up.
For the person needing protection the virus droplets in the air will have been drying and get smaller and so might get through. Though the better the mask at filtering, the less likely that it can.

I honestly don't know what is meant by confbi, which on your assessment makes me dumber than the most intellectually challenged reader. Big and insulting call, but so be it. Google doesn't know it either. Can you share some of your intellect and help this poor inferior soul with his vocabulary and the 'common English meaning' of confbi?

Distinguished Google result there at #3 ...

And here is another report on the virus mutation which can explain the rapidly rising cases.

Fortunately those that recover quickly have sustaine antibody levels.

Previously posted a link saying low iron levels worsen prognosis. This goes a step further with those that remain iron devicient are more likely to have chronic lung damage.

And more developements.Another possible treatment and a point of service test for Covid.

Plus new ways to study Covid.

Gee RooFlyer in these difficult times is this the best we can find to spar about ?
I took drron to task somewhat acerbically and in post 1932 used the term confirmation bias.
I assumed that you had read post 1932 as you sought to buy into the discussion
Subsequently I chose to abbreviate the term and add , perhaps , some more acerbity in the process…..

We may all be facing a far more difficult future ; in an effort to ameliorate any digestive irritation caused to both your good self and DrRon..
I apologise for any perceived insults, slights, reflections on intellect and any other matters that may be of concern
Can normal transmission now resume.. ??

The Houston article is interesting, thanks.
This evening I went looking for something on the Denmark mutation but found little.
I did find this : Data analysis identifies the 'mother' of all SARS-CoV-2 genomes
leading to this : auspice
It was all a bit (more than a bit really ) over my head.. but interesting none the less

The spike in worldwide positives ( 6000/day) and the rate of daily increase is extremely worrying.
All the indices are heading up, why is moot.
Interesting times indeed….

Watching BBC news at the moment and pending approval, the NHS / Military is planning to start rolling out the vaccine from early December. The older you are, the sooner you'll be eligible. Care home residents and staff, then 80+, then NHS frontline workers. Then younger age groups in bands of 5 years e.g. 75+, 70+, 65+ etc. Adults under 65 with underlying health conditions may then be given priorities, so suspect those with asthma, etc.

And... The article.
