I am so not guilty of this:

An Adelaide wastewater analysis has revealed South Australians drank significantly less (😱) during the strict COVID-19 lockdown, despite suggestions people drank more while heavy restrictions were in place.

THey weren't referring to people drinking more water ;)

How does wastewater analysis detect how many people are drinking alcohol?

Maybe time to even the stats?

One does hope the sample collection is automated. If not, I guess you have take your lumps when you start at the bottom.

Yes, “illegal” drugs, but what is detected in waste water relating to alcohol use?

I've been doing my bit! As has everyone I know. 🤷‍♀️
This is all that is stated
"In an analysis by the University of South Australia, South Australians consumed around 1047 standard drinks a day for every 1000 people in February this year. In April, the rate dropped to 698 standard drinks for every 1000 people."

Alcohol consumption didn't drop in my household but I did get a bit carried away with the purchase of wine and now have it stashed in wardrobes - need to get a bigger wine rack.

That is a good article Flashback.Interesting graphs.

So despite sharply rising case numbers the hospitalisation figures show only a small rise and the number of total deaths per week is approaching a 4 year low.

We managed to fill our 400 bottle cellar with all the good deals going around 🙈
We dont have a cellar or even much of a wine rack but it has been emptied, and refilled. Rinse and Repeat.
I did hear Shaynna Blaze (interior designer on Reality shows) say during iso she was going to renovate her wine cellar by emptying it completely and starting again and redecorate as required.

Too easy to fall into the trap of drinking every night during lockdown. Especially as we're now 10 weeks in to this round.
Agree. It's been a long haul. Make it a good Christmas then. Well, we hope so. Awful weather on the way too. So much rain yesterday and until Saturday and fierce winds.

My desire remains, but the processing capacity is cactus.
When I could barely afford a bottle of Ben Ean , I could drink the stuff by the gallon.
Now the situation is reversed…. I can buy whatever I fancy but…...

Murphys Law strikes again.

I have no idea where this came from but today I was pondering how Covid has changed many things and one of them was the people who led double lives. eg one family in Brisbane and one in Melbourne and because you were always travelling for work you had excuses - I wonder how many difficult conversations there have been.

PS I have no experience of this but I've just heard about it
