General Medical issues thread

One pill a day? Meh. :p. I am on SIX!!! And I really am considering a pillbox :o. And that doesn't include the Omega 3 capsules and Vit D.
(BP, thyroxine, proton pump inhibitor  , blood 'thinner' and 2 Plaquenil (lupus).

I used to feel superior when an oldie would have multiple scripts to fill. Mmm. I just joined 'em. Karma is a biatch.
Went out to lunch with some friends a few weeks ago - he is on 9 pills a day. I felt incredibly superior, but now I am on a slippery slope.....

Any particular way to do it, or differs per person depending on the way it is injured?

Still quite sore today - thinking maybe it's still worth taking the crutches as at least the option is there. We're HLO anyway (not bad for 3 weeks!) so should be easy enough to get them around.

Only had to strap the ankle a couple times but has been a while. Generally figures of 8 around the ankle but their are other methods of strapping.

I can see you with a Webster pack :)

Just collected the report of Friday's CT scan - not so good.

Metastases in the lung increasing in size and number. One nodule that was barely perceptible on 10 June, now 7mm, so this seems to be a bit aggressive.

Seeing the onco on Wednesday, so I expect to be on chemo fairly shortly - not looking forward to that from what I have heard about it.

That's terrible news, sorry to hear that. Best wishes for the appointment on Wednesday.

Sorry to hear that Rogerkambah. It was certainly not what we were all hoping for. Hope the onco appointment gives you a clear idea of what is ahead. Best wishes.

So sorry to hear that - will keep you in thoughts and prayers.

There is hope though! My grandfather recently had to abort an operation on his heart because it was too weak. The alternative option up through the groin they also couldn't do for various reason. Faced with a decision to just go and do it anyway, or call it a night - they did the operation again (this time through the groin) and the heart is now starting to strengthen again. Rolled the dice and won.

Flashback - I'd be getting a decent ankle brace from a physio vs strapping it, and ensuring supportive shoes. I'd also pack something that you could use to put ice in in case you need to ice it if it gets aggravated (remember inflammation is part of the healing!).

It is a shame the airport assistance was not great. When I used it I was taken through special assistance queues or crew queues. Always straight through, never waiting with 'normal' passengers. I had notified them I only required the assistance to gate or from the end of the aerobridge i.e. I did not need assistance on and off the plane.

More red wine ,PF. (But, yes, you are on the slope like the rest of us, although BP pills and a statin will ensure your continued upgrade fairy suitability.:) )

Best wishes rogerkambah,

Several of us here have had significant cancer issues and have left them far behind. Become part of the survivors group.

I am resisting going on statins. Trying the spread to see what happens.

Pushka I have been on a high dose statin for 22 years. When I tried to lower my readings with a strict diet regime it did not work. If there are side effects of statins I haven't noticed anything.

But the true test is: have those around you noticed changes in you... ;):p:mrgreen:.

The problem with my friends is they don't tell me when I am acting strangely ( other than Mrscove). Muscle strength reduction seems to happen to a small percentage of statin users.
