Got a $2K EFTPOS card to use (yeah!!!).

I guess I could go to Flight Centre... I wonder if I can use it to buy a prepaid VISA card?

How much do you consider is too much.. Probably depends on the type of day you are having. Are you imbibing said beverages to combat hangover or jetlag or lack of sleep
Could be 6-7 cans/bottles on some days, sometimes more. I'm not sure why I'm drinking so much. I don't like drinking water at the casino/club and prefer something fizzy. Subconsciously it could be a craving for caffeine.

I don't know.

Oh man, I limit myself to one a day in extremely stressful work periods and do my best to drink 4 bottles of water per day.

Maybe you should be chewing coffee beans or something else.

Seriously?

Well a lot of you may be consuming a lot more caffeine than johnK without knowing it.A lot of drinks especially have really high levels.Mostly energy drinks but in the US there are things such as pomegranate and guava juices that have 2-3 times the caffeine as diet coke.
A cup of coffee can have 3-7 times as much caffeine as a can of diet coke.
Food Sources of Caffeine

But John your consumption may be adding to the anxiety, headaches etc you complain about.I would also check the contents of OTC pain relievers you get-some to contain caffeine.
It wasn't for nothing that the C in APC powders was caffeine.can get you addicted.

Drinking that much soft drink is not good for you, even if its the sugar free version. If you want fizzy, try soda water with some lime in it.

Wow, Johnk, that seems like an aweful lot of some manufactured product using some not very healthy chemicals. If you prefer a fizzy drink I'd go for plain mineral water. I sometimes drink that as well as plain water. It doesn't have a sweet taste though which may be your craving.

Thanks. Anxiety for me is normal but the headaches have come back again.

Not sure what's in some of the generic pain killers.

Should my concern be caffeine? People say No Sugar drinks are not good for you. Why? They are not good you. No reason.

I have known people to drink 6-8 cups of coffee. I have known people to drink a lot of tea. I used to smoke 40-50 cigarettes a day and up to 100 cigarettes on some days.

Non-caloric artificial sweeteners and the microbiome: findings and challenges

In short, glucose intolerance. Didn’t you mention you were pre diabetic? Yowsers. All those cigarettes too. Good you gave up but maybe there are residual effects.

On the other hand I never smoked and in usual weeks maybe a bottle of wine a week and normal BMI and still have significant health issues so who knows. I was getting anxiety attacks at night and weirdly found that taking thyroxine meds at night instead of morning has stopped these. Thank god.

Caffeine is actualy considered a hazardous substance; if you have it in a laboratory is has to be kept locked in a poisons cabinet....
"H302: Harmful if swallowed." kinda says something...

There are also studies that show the very opposite effects of artificial sweeteners when fed to mice-ie decreased glucose and insulin levels and attenuation of weght gain-
Antihyperglycaemic effect of saccharin in diabetic ob/ob mice. - PubMed - NCBI
So the jury is out.
There has also been a study showing plain carbonated water in rats can cause weight gain, increased ghrelin levels and increased hepatic fat.

It also showed that in a small study of humans that men had increased ghrelin levels when drinking carbonated water compared to non gaseous water.Ghrelin increases hunger.
So next time the QF FA comes around and offers still or sparkling water fellas-take the still.

So what would you tell your patients who acknowledged they drank a minimum of 6 cans of coke a day? And who presented with multiple health issues including pre diabetes.

your publications are 1997, mine is 2010 and Puska 2015. aren’t the later publications more likely to indicate updated research findings? I will agree with these sort of things you can usually find some research to match your point of view :)

I have type 2 diabetes. Have had it for a long time. This has also resulted in depression, anxiety (both forms), IBS and probably many other conditions.

I have many health issues and continue to have them now. That was my luck in life. Some health issues are self inflicted. My addictive personality has been the main contributor.

I don't have 6-8 cans/bottles of No Sugar drinks a day but can get that high. Most days it 2-3 cans/bottles but if I go out that's my drink of choice as I don't drink alcohol here.

Funnily most of them don't drink 6 cans of coke a day or even 6 cans diet coke a day.
My principal practice has been heart failure so I would be concerned with the amount of fluid they were having.I would be more concerned with those drinking 6 cans of soda water or mineral water a day as they usually contain sodium as well.
I particularly get concerned with those that think you have to drink 4 litres plus water per day. That is disaster in those with heart failure.

But neither of those reports prove a direct link with NAS and weight gain.
I am sure when you are out and about that you see obese people downing a hamburger washed down with a can of diet drink.I notice that all the time.

My friend has a carcinoma on his foot, the doctors wanted at first to cut it out and do a big skin graft, a week later they changed it to radiotherapy (due to its size) where he had to attend for treatment 5 days a week for 6 weeks. He did some research and found a possible solution (so cancelled the radiotherapy) by using baking soda, coconut oil mixed into a paste placed onto the legion and covered with gauss with white vinegar placed on the wound once per day.

I saw him last about 3 weeks ago and again yesterday, he told me about the above and then showed me his foot, I was totally astounded to see the carcinoma had reduced in size by I guess 90% and now hardly noticeable but also the inflammation around it had near disappeared, now normally I'd say non professional medical treatment is like snake oil but to see his results was really amazing. He advised me he has to continue on for another 3 weeks and hopes by then it has totally disappeared, only time will tell.

Today I saw my friend and he showed me his carcinoma, its now reduced from the original about 4mm to about 1mm, I could not believe my eyes, He has now seen an oncologist who also as a bit surprised, now going back in 2 weeks for a biopsy to see if it has really healed, if so no radiotherapy.
