Dad has fallen again. Multiple small fractures of the pelvis. They'll keep him in hospital at least 1-2 weeks.
He'd only just recovered from previous lengthy stint in hospital.
Dad will be 81 end of April. @drron may say that I think I know I everything but I would say Lyrica (as well as Targin) is causing the falls. He's been up and about a couple of months and has fallen quite a few times.Sorry to hear about this.
Have investigations been done as to what is causing his falls.
I assume he's not that old and infirm, unless he is.......
As you are 55 is he in 75 -80 yo range.
@drron I don't claim to know everything but I do know some things about my condition.Sorry JohnK but sometimes it is not the doctor who doesn't know everything.

You probably had the same thing I did. I caught it from my English niece while visiting for Xmas. Took weeks to get over, and just when I was about to break out the antibiotics, someone talked me into waiting another day and it started improving after that. I really turned the corner when I got home where it was warm though. My recent viral infection took 6 weeks to go. Yes, frustrating, but it cleared itself in the end.
I had a persistent cough for weeks that has finally gone but has left me with ongoing headaches.
Wish me luck as I head off for an MRI/MRA tomorrow morning. The thought of the claustrophobic machine is what's really causing me concerns. I'll have to be doped up and driven there. Fortunately the hospital is only 5 min away.
So do I.Good luck - hope it all goes well.
I came back from our o/s trip with a little bit of belly problems and a nasty flu as a present from my wife's English cousin - the belly is now ok and the flu is going.
However, I have also just had a ultrasound to confirm that I have got another visit from my old friend the Kidney Stone, so far non-obstructive. I have sent the referral off to the urologist and am waiting an appointment. About 6 x 8 mm for those interested. There is no pain or other symptoms at the moment
The previous one that I couldn't pass and required an ureteroscopy was about 10 - 12mm - if I recall correctly.
It's been going around - sounds like what I have/had. It's a long lingering one too and tends to be viral so not much you can do to it. 6 weeks seems to be the common timeframe for it......
Actually it has not been too bad so far. The aches & pains have pretty much gone after a week. The tiredness is improving. It is mainly the chesty cough bringing up a bit of phlegm that is the annoyance. I have still been able to ride my pushbike, if even slower than normal, for 5 out of 7 days. My wife has been worse off than me as she had a day or two mostly in bed.
All the best. That's one test I'll try to avoid as much as possible. I had taken 2 Valiums and still having panic attacks.I had a persistent cough for weeks that has finally gone but has left me with ongoing headaches.

They say that you can't kill weeds which probably means I am safe.
I survived the MRI/MRA. Now to wait for the results. You don't look like Kale...you'll be fine
I don’t get to see my GP until Thursday but living in a small town has advantages.I survived the MRI/MRA. Now to wait for the results.
