General Medical issues thread

Yes @lakeman I read that too on medscape. We have fake drugs so there is no way we would buy on the black market. At 74 I know we would be very, very low on the medical list to qualify for replacement parts like kidneys, livers and hearts. Ingesting a phony drug could ruin vital organs. Life is not a dress rehearsal…..

What happens if I have a Covid vaccination soon after having Covid?
I had Covid in the week leading up to Christmas and I'm going away for a month mid February. Will I still have enough immunity to get me through?

That's an interesting question and likely never been officially tested nor answered. I think that with that time period I'd wait for a while before vaccination.

When I had Covid the medical advice was to wait 3 months after recovery before any further vaccination. Not sure if it has changed.

I don’t know about the latest batch of vaccinations, but in the past a Covid vaccination did not give you immunity to catching the disease, but rather hopefully lessen the effects.

Every time I’ve had a booster in the last two years, they’ve asked if I’ve had Covid in the past six months so I assume that if I answered yes, they wouldn’t vaccinate me, at least for free.

Life is not a dress rehearsal…..
I see this statement so often and it makes no sense at all.

If life is meaningless and you only get one shot at life then what does it matter what you've done or what you've not done in life? In 100 years you'll be forgotten. In a 1000 years a memory that's more than likely totally erased.

So my conclusion is that this statement is only relevant to make someone feel better about the choices they have made.

P.S. I am still certain we're living in a simulation. That is the only conclusion that makes any sense. And if that's the case then we're really pawns in some game unless of course there's another version of us outside this simulated reality but there's a chance that's also a simulation.

I can see the signs of an endless loop for all eternity....

Up and down procedures yesterday (similar to Mrs Prozac I would suggest )
Have to say the hospital POW was good. Well oiled so to speak production line.
All the staff were pleasant and reassuring.
The preparation is getting slightly better over time. So grateful I could have chicken broth on the clear liquids day. Did wonder if I could have lemonade , must ask for next one

Phew, I'm glad you both survived, because it's meant to be dangerous:

"In the up-and-down procedure, animals are dosed one at a time. If an animal survives, the dose for the next animal is increased; if it dies, the dose is decreased."

Yes can
But anything which has some salt is better - Gatorade good also

Anything clear as in see through is OK but not alcohol

Sometimes called top and tail
Thank you so much, actually got a bit of salt through the chicken broth (husband had to go over to Bronte to get but worth it )

I think I will be staying on these procedures due to this time and the previous times results so handy to know I could have had lemonade

@Quickstatus as always thanks for your support and assistance. You're a gentleman.

Data point with my anxiety issues. As above severe panic attack a few weeks back. Some anxiety since.

I purchased Alprazolam on street in Pattaya. Manufactured by Pfizer Pakistan. Purple colour tablet and has Xanax 1.0 on one side. I suspect its genuine due to Pfizer label but this does not appear to work at all.

I purchased Alprazolam in pharmac_ in Pattaya. Looks to be Thai manufacture but no mention of who manufactures. Purple tablet but no other labelling. This has some effect.

I don't know if these are illegally manufactured but look to be genuine. I took 1mg of the Thai Aplrazolam today before 3 hour Scoot flight CNX-SIN. I was relaxed but with wife/daughter so not alone and no irrational fear. Slept a little but the last 15-20 minutes of flight I was in some distress. Effects look to have worn off quick. Have another flight in 3 hours or so.

I've decided to see GP in Brisbane next week and I will ask for referral to psychiatric outpatients. Not looking for treatment. Looking to get Alprax prescription as I know that is effective.

Please don't judge me. I know I'm stubborn but I want what's in my best interests not what someone else thinks is in my best interests. See how we go.

I am glad you said that @Quickstatus as fake drugs seem to be everywhere. Valuing your irreplaceable body parts is a very good idea.
At least in Australia most drugs are reasonably priced if you compare with the US prices.
In the US the two biggest groups advertising on tv are drug companies and lawyers.I am pleased we don’t have that in Australia.

I'm down in Melbourne for the tennis and work, and have come down with something, perhaps covid for a second time. Awful body aches all night, running hot and cold and a very mild runny nose, cough and scratchy throat. Time to go find some panadol.
Sounds like it. Drink plenty of water and take Panadol as directed. Feel better soon.

My shingrix vaccination appointment was cancelled. There's no stock of the free one. If I wanted to pay? Plenty of stock.

Yes that's an absurd thing that some clinics do. We had to pay for flu vacs last year since they only had paid ones and did not have any free for oldies ones. Yet the vac is exactly the same in the same syringe!
