General Medical issues thread

Going home once I've been unhooked and had a shower. No exercise for the next few weeks. I'm not good at doing nothing so it's going to be hard.

Surgery done and dusted and seems to have gone well. Only need panadol which is great. QF F pjs are just perfect for lounging around in, given they're keeping me overnight.

Welcome to a new world where breathing is so much easier. I've found that two months after my nasal surgery that it keeps getting better.

Only small downside, I've needed to trim the nose hairs a lot more than previously. :p But the benefits outweigh the downsides by a 1000 to 1.

As long as no exercise doesn't mean no bending of your arm I'm sure you will be fine. :p
I'm not sure Ill be able to taste wine just yet...but I could certainly smell the coffee shop I walked past despite the blocked nose and packing.

Itll take a while, I had a septoplasty, turbinoplasty and a FESS (i think thats clearing out my actual sinus). The bag of drugs theyve sent me home is ridiculous given Ive only been taking panadol. I have 5 weeks now till we go to the States so Im hoping it feels mostly good by then.

We are transiting between ADL and MEL next year so interstate travel for MrP will reduce. Might check on the Vic ENT person.

This may put you off your dinner, but if you have bad allergies, asthma and other inflammatory problemos, this may be of interest:

There's a long history of using parasitic hookworms in therapy.

But a team from James Cook University are looking to bypass the worms and use only their secretions.

New research suggests a protein found in what the hookworms vomit up might be an effective treatment for allergic asthma and other inflammatory diseases.

I think this holds Rons bucket list !! With what we have planned in the next 3 years !!!

( oops ... I didn't mean for the photo to be that BIG !)
or drron's bucket list to be so large :)

What was that lovely film? Oh yes, The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.

Better get back OT here... I've come back from HKG with a congested ear. It's not sore or painful at all but I feel like i am underwater. If it doesn't resolve soon I suppose I will have to break the tradition and actually go to the doctor

I sometimes have that, only in my right ear. I find Cerumol eardrops effective.

Daughter very fussy. Prefers breast milk. At night she likes to suck the nipple even though breast milk has finished. She then falls asleep. If my wife moves daughter starts sucking again then falls asleep. Very funny to watch. Very spoilt. Need to somehow stop her doing that.

Breastfeeding is so much more than just about the milk. A lot of it is about comfort and attachment between mum and baby. It helps baby feel safe. So no need to stop unless there is a problem for mum.

Read out of context and / or directed at a male that would seem rather rude! ;)

When was drinking wine considered rude?

Oooooh - to quote drron - naughty boy. ;)

Mmm. Seem to have lost flashback quote here. Is the old App failing?

Though this doesn't seem to be wax at all, more like in the eustachian tube, feels like my head is underwater and seems to be worse when I move. I had a very bad cold before I went to Japan and suspect that this is as a result. Anyway am giving some decongestants a whirl to see if they help.

How are you feeling on the treatment RK?
