Assuming the only treatment is to lose weight and some sort of medication daily or cortisone injections is it worth getting every single pain/condition diagnosed?

Treatments can be global and specific. Global would be weight loss, oral steroi_s and other antimetabolites such as methotrexate, TNF blockers etc etc. Specific would be injections and surgery. Diagnosis also similar.

I would definitely have been thinking of a platelet issue with your bruised arms.

My relative was initially alerted to what was HCL by their ophthalmologist.

Very complicated with very little hope.

GP is OK but limited to what GP can achieve. Next step is pain management clinic but this does not appeal. I don't want to end up on opioids. Too many joints with issues for regular steroi_ injections.

And then it's not just joints. Plantar fascitis. Gout. I suspect severe shin splints. Swelling in legs and on many occasions bloating as well. This morning my fingers/knuckles were severely swollen. I tried using laptop and I get pins and needles in my hands.

If it was limited to one area you can exercise to strengthen but its not just one area. It's many areas. Each one is different. Each one chronic. Some people think it's easy. I can assure you it's not. It's depressing.

But you know something. I know where I'll end up but I never give up even if life keeps throwing these curve balls. I'm sure this is a simulation more than likely controlled by another me to somehow make me stronger. We may never know.

Anyone been through chemo / going through and experienced the hair loss and grow-back phenomenon?
I am not bothered by the hair loss but now my chemo has ended I was wondering.
1. How soon after chemo can you expect hair regrow, proper hair, not this bum-fluff stuff?
2. Did you regrow different hair texture, colour, blah blah blah?
3. Did you grow hair back where previously you had lost some?

The few weeks post chemo hair is still dropping if not all shaved off as it’s dead hair.

Mine started growing back about the start of the third month after last dose. then growth is quite consistent after until head is fully covered. The sides n front near forehead were the last to fill back. Maybe around the 6th month mark I had most of hair back even if a bit fine.

This new hair growth is initially a bit more fine but does thicken n straighten eventually around a year’s time. It’s sometimes starts curly but maybe a years later straightens. i always had very straight hair so it was fun to have a bit of curls for a while. Stuff of childhood dream . The color alas stayed the same

Not everyone is exactly the same. But most of my fellow support group did have curly hair that did not last .

Please take things easy post chemo. The body changes are not the same for everyone. And I learned the hard way that if you try to go back to doing things at the level you used to it will possibly set you back twice from where you were. Some health insurance comes with rehab n if you have this option I’d say it’s the best gift to yourself. Unfortunately I could only access this after third/4th lockdown as my chemotherapy was during the first year of the pandemic. Pretty much on my own trying to rebuild the body n fitness.

Yay!!!! to hear you’re over to the other side with the last dose. I had a counter in reverse to keep me going. so well done.

Yes weird stuff. They now sometimes seem to use a latex balloon to catch drilling tooth shavings it seems. One new dentist used on in me last year and was not liked. Just Say No!

Some dentists are getting too carried away it seems. Jez, these days they even use numbing injection rather than have screaming patients.

Interesting. It's the first time she has used one. But when she took it off she was aghast. I think I must have looked like bobo the clown!

I have this too. So weird. My medical team thought I had reflux a few years back but the medications did not improve my symptoms. So in June I had a 96 hour monitoring with a Bravo capsule and was told definitively that I did not have reflux and could stop taking them - after 5 years.

And now, I definitely do have reflux. Currently just taking Gaviscon because I refused the Nexuim again, but I might have to reconsider.

There are so many shocks and surprises on this journey.

Gaviscon after last sip of water just before bed helped me a lot to keep that awful slightly full nausea gaggy feeling at bay next morning.
Shocks to the system even now a few years. Still get the gaggy feeling when stressed or missed a meal n hungry.
But life rolls on and taking the meds and the ongoing side effects is the price bargain for a life living well after

If I have a late dessert after some champagne I pop a Somac tablet to avoid reflux.That might happen just two or three nights a year. The potential problem vanishes.

Attended the funeral today of my oldest friend, known each other since we were 2 yrs. Turns out we were each diagnosed with cancer in the same week. He never told me and so I only found out last week he had passed when his daughter sent a text message to everyone in his contact list. To be fair, I never told him either.
