General Virgin Australia discussion

As a data point on priority bags, sitting in row 11 today on 737-7 BNE to SYD and my priority bag was last to go on, along with all the other priority bags.

Let’s see what the end result is on the other end!

Looks like a rare sighting of a QF aircraft with split scimitar winglet in the background?

Yeah certainly looks like it!

And can confirm priority bags all off first 🥳

The IFE was interesting. It was refurbed with J and mew seats, but no in flight internet.

The entertainment system was different and had a new map with a 3D mode. haven’t seen this before.

Is anyone familiar with how late you can cancel a domestic business flight on VA? From what I've read it seems like up until departure is okay.
I need to travel late in my wife's pregnancy and was planning on booking the last J flight for a couple of nights but would most likely cancel them close to departure unless I get an urgent phone call 😬

Prior to scheduled departure: Domestic fares | Virgin Australia

Id recommend to get full refund to original form of payment. The only advantage of travel bank is that you don’t lose the CC surcharge.

Great, my highest priority is being able to get on a plane that day - the second is not spending an absolute fortune on a last minute whY fare (there's $330 J fares at the moment MEL>BNE). Refund to CC will be much preferred over travel bank.

The flight maps do look the goods @ChrisBNE.

Not so the lack of in-flight wifi though. Is that a plane type/age thing? All flights I've been on recently had it working fine. A couple of reports in this thread already though.

I'm somewhat divided as to whether I want it or not. I generally enjoy the opportunity to be disconnected but on one flight I needed to get a file of the work server so it was terrific.

On another flight, the git next to me played youtube videos (and ads) without headphones, which was less terrific. Of course, that may or may not happen solely because of the wifi, but it is an additional risk.

My flight on one of the ex-KLM 737-700s today has this version of the IFE and map.

I'm just at the new/renovated Adelaide lounge, it looks absolutely insane, I don't think I've ever in my life seen a lounge this beautifully designed and outfitted, it looks absolutely spectacular.

Which is also why it's comical how poor the food is given how nice the lounge looks, heh.

Have you had a tipple or 2 already......is a nice comfy lounge, but that's quite a wrap.

I've been there, but is the F&B any better than other VA lounges?

I hate that the food is homogenous across the lounges. Nowt worse having the same brekky in, say, MEL after having it in CBR, when doing CBR-MEL-ADL. Coffee is better in CBR though. They have more time to add the love.

Same with the beer and wines, have something local to that area ideally.
