Genuine QF Enhancements

In fairness - QF are now making noises that perhaps the 'marketing' around WP enhancements has failed, and that some tweaking is necessary.

Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic - but this week has seen QF make moves in the right direction and I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt (for the time being).

Meanwhile - I wish VA the best in getting their product and FF improvements up to standard as quickly and successfully as possible. The more competition, the better for everyone.

I think it worrying if QF feels it has not "marketed" the recent WP "enhancements" effectively. This would imply they believe the "enhancements" are good, but we as frequent flyers don't understand that they are good. Overall the QF program is probably not that bad, and I think FF's worldwide are probably going to have to accept that the FF "glory days" are long gone.

I implore the team at QF to represent changes honestly. Tell us when it is going to be bad, don't put spin on changes that are fundamentally bad for us. I really don't want to see any more QF marketing spin.

There has been nothing put forward this week that is really interesting or good for me. I will pursue my consistent strategy of securing the most comfortable seats within my yearly budget. QF has been a the best means for me to achieve this, but with a changing budget I'll be maintaining WP with QF and VA.

WP1 appears totally underwhelming for me. I can see that I might be better off when things go wrong, but the upgrade notification 7 days before is not much better than 24 hours before. To be of value for me it needed to be at the time of booking......even if it was limited to once our twice a year.

I'm interested in getting from A to B as comfortably as possible with as minimum of fuss as possibly. I don't check luggage and just want to get through the airport quickly. I don't need a travel arranger, I want decent seat selection, a lie flat bed on long haul, leg room on domestic Y, priority boarding, upgrade opportunities, and a nice lounge to sit in. QF and VA tick the box in some, but not all of these.

This. This. A million times this.

It's so much better for all concerned if they're just straight up with us.

I totally agree with the first sentence. IMHO most WP members have been a little disappointed with the "spin" from QF regarding the "enhancements".

The second part though I'd like to address from my PERSONAL point of view.

I book F (paid) 90% of the time for myself and +1, so I am not that concerned with upgrades. However the majority of the times I fly, I book WITHIN 7 days of departure. Now, if my Son or PA are travelling with me (Both P1's) it will be possible for them to get a confirmed upgrade, in most instances at the time of booking. I see that as a VERY big benefit.

It is about personal needs. (Who would want to devise an FF program with the diverse needs of its members? - Almost impossible to satisfy all.) I can see the benefit for you, but for me I already have travel to the UK booked in December 2011, Feb 2012, April 2012, June 2012 and August 2012. I am usually booking long haul months in advance. As a result QF misses a bit of my travel.

I can understand QF's position, they want to sell J and F seats, and guaranteed upgrades will mean a couple of Y+ bookings for me a year......however at the moment that business is going to BA or to JASA's.

Good to see you back bossreggie!:)
